The Area Codes High Academic Showcase took place this weekend at Desert Edge High School, and included 40 student-athletes for the event that represent scholar athletes across the state. Tournament Director Chad Groth put together a good event that included some serious coaching from the participating coaches, and player development as well. New first-year Phoenix College head coach Duane Eason, and several other guest speakers gave excellent speeches to the participants, which got the event off to an excellent start. Here are my top individual performers from this year’s event (In no particular order) . . . Ibrahima Camara 6-4 …

Another prospect in the state that is coming off a strong spring and summer performance for himself, saw his college recruitment really take off this club season. As a result, Estrella Foothills’ 6-foot-8, 210-pound talented post Shaun Wahlstrom has now trimmed down his list of college suitors to four schools. Wahlstrom is coming off an excellent showing for himself this club season, after traveling the country with his Alvin Gentry Elite program. The team was talented and won a lot of games on the circuit, and Wahlstrom played very well for himself – rebounding hard, finishing strong around the rim and…
One of the elite returning prospects in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) this up-and-coming junior college season is Central Arizona Junior College’s 7-foot, 220-pound sophomore post Trever Irish. Irish is among the biggest post prospects in the junior college ranks nationally, but he is also a skilled performer that has generated a few scholarship offers for himself this summer. Irish is among the top returning prospects in the conference this season, after having a strong freshman campaign for himself – averaging 14.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per/game, while shooting 62.6% from the field. Irish was among the conference’s…
The historic college recruitment of Pinnacle High School’s superstar guard Nico Mannion is really winding down now, as the star guard has narrowed his list of college programs down to his final four schools. This week, Mannion trimmed his list of schools down to Villanova, Duke, Marquette and Arizona. Mannion has not indicated any leaders in his college recruitment, and will expect to take official visits this fall before making his college decision. This club season, which included the spring and summer, was a big one for Mannion, as he traveled the country and even the world, and faced high-level competition at each stop. Mannion has become…
While many basketball enthusiasts close to the recruitment of Shadow Mountain High School’s star guard Jovan Blacksher had known for some time that he and his family really liked the Grand Canyon University program and staff, it was unclear as to whether he would commit, and, most importantly, when he would commit. Blacksher answered that question this weekend, when he decided to end his college recruitment and give Dan Majerle and his staff his pledge. Blacksher is a tremendous get for the GCU program – one of the elite overall prospects in Arizona’s talented 2019 Class. Blacksher is a unique guard…
The NCAA Evaluation period is now over and has come to an end, as each of Arizona’s top-rated prospects hit the road this summer – in an attempt to improve their overall college recruitment. Many prospects helped themselves a great deal this club season, and raised their overall level of college recruitment. Here are my top performers from the summer’s NCAA Eval period, first starting with the 2019 class (in no particular order). This is not every top prospect in the class, but rather the top performers from this summer that I observed . . . Arizona Top Summer Performers…
Bella Vista Prep’s ultra-talented 6-foot-7, 175-pound senior wing Terry Armstrong is our top true 2019 prospect in the class, and the athletic wing has generated loads of division-I interest for himself over the past year. This week, Armstrong trimmed his long recruiting list down to (10) schools. With a long list of college suitors extending offers to him, Armstrong is now narrowing down his list of schools. After careful consideration, this week Armstrong released his list of schools he is considering to Michigan State, Arizona, Oregon, Florida State, Xavier, Arizona State, Oklahoma, Mississippi State, LSU and New Mexico. With such a long list of scholarship offers on the table…
It was a super long road for Deer Valley High School 2018 graduate, 6-foot-7 forward Bryce Davis. After going throughout his senior season and also graduating school without a division-I offer, Davis has landed his offer and has now signed with the University of the Incarnate Word, where he will now play this fall. The University of the Incarnate Word is a division-I program located in San Antonio, Texas, and is a member of the Southland Conference. Davis had seen numerous division-II programs extend offers to him, but he seemed to be waiting for the right program to come around…
It is very hard to believe that the storied high school basketball career of Pinnacle High School’s superstar guard Nico Mannion is already winding down, but the 2018-2019 high school basketball season will now be the last one for Mannion, after he recently announced that he would leave the 2020 class, and become a member of America’s 2019 class – graduating a year early and moving on to the collegiate ranks. Here is a superb highlight reel of Mannion from this spring and summer Under Armour basketball circuit, while playing for West Coast Elite (CA) . . . Join the…

Former Arizona star guard guard Matt Carlino (Marquette, BYU) of Highland HS did the same thing years ago, and signed with UCLA out of high school a year earlier,…
