Arizona's 2020 Class of college prospects is absolutely loaded with division-I talent for the future, and many college programs are now taking a strong focus on individual prospects in the group. Tri-City Christian High School's 6-foot-11 junior post Fallou Diagne emerged in the state last season, and his potential to play the game became imminent and glaring among college coaches. This weekend, Niang received a huge division-I offer for himself early in the recruiting process.
I have always stated that this young man would garner high-major division-I interest for himself over time, and now an elite division-I program in the country has stepped up early in the recruiting process for him, as Texas Tech has extended an offer to the gifted young post prospect - his second division-I offer and a big one. Diagne also possesses an offer for himself from Pepperdine.
Diagne played this summer for the Arizona Monsoon on the club circuit, and caught the attention of numerous college coaches as a result of his play and promise for the future.
Diagne is a rare find in the state of Arizona, so he sticks out in an already loaded 2020 group of college prospects in the state. We had believed that he would become one of the top recruiting targets in the West and also the country over time, and now an offer from Texas Tech proves that theory, as many more high-major division-I programs have now inquired about him as a result of the offer. As a result, many more offers could pour in for Fallou.
Standing a full 6-foot-11, Diagne is a very versatile and skilled post prospect with a nice ability to score inside and out effectively, as a result of an advanced offensive skillset and a nice shooting stroke with range. He is fundamentally sound already. His ability to make shots from the perimeter, and also put the ball on the floor and create for himself are very unique skillsets that he possesses at a very young age. He is an also an active post player that blocks shots and finishes strong around the rim. He is still a little raw has still also needs a lot of time to develop, but it is obvious his potential for the future.
Last year as a sophomore entering the state, he played very well in the Pangos Frosh/Soph All-American Camp in California, where he emerged for the large number of scouts and media in attendance.
Tri-City Christian has been one of the most dominant high school programs in the state of Arizona for the past 5 years, and this season they dominate the state again in the CAA's top division - our favorite to win the state title once again, after going two years without the trophy.
I will continue to follow the recruitment and the development of Fallou closely over the next year, as this young man is now another hot recruiting target for division-I college programs in the state.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Standing a full 6-foot-11, Diagne is a very versatile and skilled post prospect with a nice ability to score inside and out effectively, as a result of an advanced offensive skillset and a nice shooting stroke with range. He will develop into a complete mis-match for opposing post players, as he can score effectively inside and out. Very few post players will have his ability to play inside and out, and he also has excellent length and adequate explosiveness off the ground - making it very difficult especially in the CAA charter school league for anyone to give this young man problems. As he matures physically over the next two years, he should absolutely dominate the CAA Division, and become a household name amidst high school competition. Over time, he will develop into a very good stretch 5-man. He is still growing a great deal as well, so he could get to 7-feet in height before it is all said and done. Has a very bright future ahead of him.
