The state of Arizona is now absolutely loaded with basketball talent in the state – from top to bottom. As a result, while numerous prospects in Arizona’s 2018 senior class have already given verbal commitments this fall and will look to sign with their respective college programs this month, there are still many top-rated basketball prospects still available in the state for college programs to take a very hard look at throughout the high school season, and this spring. Here is Part I of a long list of top-rated basketball prospects still available in the state of Arizona’s 2018 class…

It has been a good week for Hillcrest Prep Academy, as a second prospect from their National High School team has given a verbal commitment, as 6-foot-10 senior post Pietro Agostini has given a verbal commitment to Kennesaw State University. A native of Italy, Agostini came to Hillcrest Prep this fall and will see a lot of time on this year’s team in the post. Agostini will provide serious depth for the program in their frontcourt this high school season, as the team travels on the Grind Session circuit. Agostini is a skilled stretch 4-man that will hold down the…
Bella Vista Prep ultra-talented 6-foot-7, 175-pound junior wing Terry Armstrong recently emerged at Bella Vista Prep this season, after relocating to the state from Flint, Michigan. A four-star college prospect by ESPN and numerous other scouting services nationally, Armstrong will be a big piece for the success of this year’s Bella Vista program. Armstrong has quickly become one of the hottest prospects in the West for the 2019 class, as he already possesses numerous division-I offers for himself. Recently, he has received several more offers for himself to go with an already impressive list for himself. Recently, Armstrong received offers…
The recruiting process is over early for Hillcrest Prep Academy 6-foot-9 surging junior forward Dischon Thomas. After taking a visit this weekend to the University of Nevada, Thomas decided to end his college recruitment – pulling the trigger with one of the top mid-major plus programs in America. After already receiving a verbal commitment recently from Hillcrest Prep 6-foot-11 senior post KJ Hymes, who will sign with Nevada later this month, Thomas is the next in line, as the 2019 prospect gave a verbal commitment to head coach Eric Musselman and his talented and experienced staff this weekend. Under Musselman’s…
One of the better prospects in Arizona’s 2019 class is Chaparral High School’s 6-foot-6 junior forward Alec Bryan. Bryan recently decided to play for new prep program CGM Prep Academy this season, but after thinking things over, he has now decided he will stay put this high school season and play for his junior season for Chaparral head coach Dan Peterson. Bryan is a skilled and talented wing prospect with good size and mobility and a knack for making shots from the perimeter. After considering playing for CGM Prep on a national schedule and playing with some top-rated national and…
After a long road of developing the school’s basketball program over the last 8 months, second-year head coach Ray Weathers and his new talented coaching staff will open up their season on Friday evening at home against Calvary Christian Prep School (CA). Calvary Christian will face the program’s National High School team on the evening, in what should be an exciting match-up. AZ Compass Prep will now join the ranks of newly developed prep programs in the state, as the program will feature a new National High School team, while also providing a high school team that will compete in…
The 19th annual Arizona Preps Fall Showcase took place recently on the campus of AZ Compass Prep and was filled with many talented prospects for this year’s event – of all ages (high school and middle school). The event was loaded with up-and-coming basketball talent for the state, and there were many top performers on the day. Here are the top overall performers that I witnessed from this year’s recent event, from the 2021, 2022 & 2023 classes (In no particular order) . . . Top Fall Showcase Performers – 2021 Class Ricardo Sarmiento 5-10 FR PG Cesar Chavez HS…
After several years of hard work on his body and game, Bella Vista Prep 6-foot-10, 264-pound junior post Emmanuel Kabasele Tshimanga has improved a great deal, and is now looking to have a strong junior season for head coach Kyle Weaver and his newly developed program. Tshimanga has dropped 30 pounds over the last year, and now, much quicker and more agile for his size, he is beginning to come into his own as a college prospect. This season looks to be a breakout season for the hard-working Tshimanga, as he will look to showcase his new body and skillset…
Pinnacle High School’s 6-foot-6 talented senior forward Mason Johnson has made his decision for college next fall. After a lot of hard work and a solid spring and summer for himself, Johnson has decided on a division-III school in Atlanta, Georgia. Johnson will attend Emory College next fall – one of the top overall smaller college programs in the country academically, and also in the sport of basketball. Emory College has won 23 NCAA titles. Johnson chose Emory over recruiting interest from Dartmouth, Columbia, Cornell and Army. Johnson is set to have a strong senior season after working very hard…
Rancho Solano Prep’s 6-foot-8, 195-pound senior forward Nikc Jackson is one of the top overall prospects in Arizona’s 2018 class, but was a very underrated prospect in the class. While I believed that Jackson should have received much more recruiting attention for himself, rather than wait for the late signing period, Jackson decided to pull the trigger early – giving a verbal commitment to a program in the Mountain West Conference. This weekend, after taking an official recruiting visit to the program, Jackson decided on Air Force – giving head coach Dave Pilipovich and his staff a verbal commitment. Jackson…
