In surprising fashion on Friday afternoon, the Arizona State Sun Devils head coach Bob Hurley and his staff received a nice Christmas gift before the holiday, when Shadow Mountain High School's 6-foot, 165-pound junior guard Jaelen House gave an early verbal commitment to the Sun Devils. The commitment was a big one for the surging Arizona State program that has shocked the college basketball world this season - becoming the hottest basketball program in the country.
As the only college program currently in the country that has commitments and/or signings in the 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 classes, House joins other top-rated prospects such as Hillcrest's Kyree Walker as a strong future of prospects for the Sun Devil program. House is the son of former ASU legendary guard and NBA champion Eddie House, so his commitment means much more.
While House does not currently have a high ranking nationally among scouting services and internet site, he has quickly become one of the elite 2019 guard prospects in the West this high school season, as he has led Shadow Mountain to an undefeated 12-0 record this season, with big wins over Chino Hills (CA) and Sierra Canyon HS (CA) already, and looking to win a national championship.
House is among the elite prospects in Arizona's 2019 class, and, while he is still small in stature, he is a technician on the basketball court - surveying the floor and making plays off the dribble almost at will. House is an electric guard prospect with a lot in his bag of tricks - capable of putting on a show with the basketball in his hands.
Last season as a sophomore, House helped lead his Shadow Mountain ballclub to their second consecutive state championhip - winning the 4A State Title with an undefeated record on the season (27-0). House was almost unstoppable on many nights throughout the season, and also led his team to last year's McClintock Holiday Shootout tournament championship.
House was just beginning to blow up with numerous college programs across the country, before giving his big college commitment.
Congratulations from the Arizona Preps' staff on this amazing accomplishment for House and his family, and head coach Mike Bibby and the Shadow Mountain coaching staff.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: House is among the elite prospects in Arizona's 2019 class, and, while he is still small in stature, he is a technician on the basketball court - surveying the floor and making plays off the dribble almost at will. He has a superior handle of the basketball and an ability to create his own shot amidst some of the best talent in the country. House is an electric guard prospect with a lot in his bag of tricks - capable of putting on a show with the basketball in his hands. House is the son of former NBA sharp-shooter and Arizona State superstar guard Eddie House, and, like his father, this young man is a load. Very few prospects that I have seen in this state over the past 20 years play with the level of superior confidence that this budding young prospect possesses. House feels like he is the best basketball player on the court each time he steps on the floor, and he also makes his defenders feel humbled for having to guard him on the floor. He uses a variety of cross-over dribbles, hesitation dribbles and head fakes to keep his defenders off balance - making him very difficult to guard with one player. He is an electric ball handler and passer that commands attention when he steps on the floor, and has excellent command presence that makes him a big-time leader for his team. House is a sure-fire scorer that can score at anytime on the basketball court.
