The season off to a great start in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC), as teams are now positioning themselves for a strong start on the season, until league play begins. Cochise, Chandler-Gilbert and South Mountain JC are each 4-0 to start the season, while Arizona Western fell to 4-1, after an overtime re-match loss (83-82) to Howard JC (TX).  Arizona Western started off the season extremely hot, after big road wins over top-rated South Plains (TX) and Howard (TX) on the road. Day one of this weekend’s Duel of the Desert prep event on the Grind Session circuit proved to be about the return to the state of Arizona by Prolific Prep (CA) 6-foot-5, 195-pound senior guard Jared Martin (Montana State commit).  Martin decided to leave the state for his senior season for the lure to play for one of the elite prep programs in the West.  On Friday evening, he made his return to the state and led his program with some terrific shooting in a 82-61 win over Taylor Made Prep. AZ Compass Prep traveled to the state of Nevada this week to take on high school power Findlay Prep (NV) in their second game of the high school season.  AZ Compass would make it a good contest, until falling to Findlay Prep, 102-84.  In the loss, 6-foot-3 senior guard Dwayne Walker would come up big – scoring 37 points in his team’s loss. Walker is a native of Milwaukee, WI, and moved to the state this high school season to improve his exposure to college coaches and develop as a player, while playing for AZ Compass Prep.  Walker attended Juneau…

Recently, Hillcrest Prep received a nice addition to their program, when former 2017 Basha High School graduate Gabe McGlothan decided to join their program.  The ultra-athletic and talented 6-foot-6, 210-pound recently decided to leave Army West Point this fall and re-open his college recruitment. Basha High School’s talented and promising 6-foot-6, 210-pound prep forward Gabe McGlothan has been in the news for some time now, after deciding to leave Army West Point this fall and re-open his college recruitment.  While it looked as though McGlothan would decide on another college program for his next destination, instead he has landed at Hillcrest Prep Academy, where he will now play for the program’s National High School team this high school season.
