Arizona Western’s 6-foot-6 freshman forward Jalen Townsell and 6-foot-5 sophomore Xavier Fuller, of Scottsdale, have been selected as the ACCAC Players of the Week for Division-I and Division-II respectively. Townsell averaged 18 points two Arizona Western JC wins over Central Arizona and Tohono O’odham. The freshman from Reno, Nevada, also contributed 6 rebounds per contest, and converted 6-for-13 three-pointers. Fuller had a huge week with a 29.5 point per/game scoring average in two games, which included a 37-point outburst against Cochise. He also added 12.5 rebounds per game.

The first week of ACCAC action is in the books, and three teams have began conference play with 2-0 records. Arizona Western, Mesa and Glendale Junior College have each won their openers. The Arizona high school basketball season got underway on Monday afternoon across the state with numerous Thanksgiving pre-season events kicking off. The Hoopsgiving Tournament at Sunnyslope High School is always a fun event and has grown over the years. Shadow Mountain High School has been the absolute class of the state of Arizona for the past decade, winning just about every state championship under former Head Coach and legendary Arizona basketball product Mike Bibby. Arizona Western 6-foot-1 sophomore guard Daniel Kiely has been selected as the ACCAC’s Division-I Player of the Week.
