This year’s McClintock Holiday Shootout completed earlier this week with a big final match-up between Skyline High School and Arcadia. Skyline would edge out Arcadia in narrow fashion, 70-67, for the tournament championship win. The tournament win was just another big accomplishment by the Skyline program this season, led by the play of their terrific senior guard prospect, 6-foot-2 senior guard Dayton Harris (Northern Arizona signee). A new chapter will now unfold for former Cesar Chavez High School’s talented 6-foot-4, 180-pound junior guard Ty Ty Washington – one of the top 2021 guard prospects in the country. After a recent fighting incident that broke out between players, fans and parents after a game between Chavez and Skyline High School, Washington was suspended by the school, and found his future at the program in jeopardy. Hillcrest Prep 6-foot-7 prep forward Andre Harris has not played for his Hillcrest Prep program since before the Hoop Hall West event in Arizona earlier this month, and so this weekend Harris decided to pull the trigger on his college recruitment – giving a verbal pledge to a program in the Atlantic-10 Conference. Harris’s decision came as a surprise in December, after it was thought that he would wait until the spring to make his college decision. Eastern Arizona’s sophomore forward Nathaniel Pollard, Jr., has been selected as the ACCAC Player of the Week for Division-I and Scottsdale’s sophomore guard Boogie Anderson has received the same honor for the Division-II programs in the ACCAC for conference play during the week of Dec. 9-15. Arizona Western’s talented 6-foot-3 sophomore point guard Cash Williams, a native of Fresno, California’s Central High School (CA), is the ACCAC Division-I Player of the Week for play throughout December 2-8. There were no Division-II nominations for the week. Williams averaged 19.5 points in two wins last week, converting 6 of 12 three-pointers as the Matadors defeated Cochise and Mesa Junior College. He also added a total of 10 assists, 8 rebounds and 5 steals, as AWC improved their overall record to 10-2 on the season.
