There are numerous Arizona prospects, members of the 2016 class, that will be expected to sign national letters of intent with the college programs of their choice this week. No one’s stock in the state of Arizona rose more during the 2015 spring and summer evaluation periods than top-rated 2017 prospect 6-foot junior guard Saben Lee. As a result, Lee reeled in numerous scholarship offers from many different college programs. This week, Lee received his biggest scholarship offer yet – an offer from a surging program in the Big-10 Conference. University of Nebraska assistant coach Phil Beckner is a native of the valley, and is coming off a short stint in the NBA with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Beckner recently took a job back in the college ranks and…
Hillcrest Academy has received a lot of attention as of late regarding their tremendous level of talent on their roster, but lately, the program also received attention from the NCAA regarding the accredidation at their school. On Wednesday, Arizona Preps learned that superstar 6-foot-11 sophomore post Marvin Bagley and his younger brother, 8th grader Marcus Bagley, have left the Hillcrest program. Marvin Bagley Sr., an assistant coach at Hillcrest, will be leaving the program as well. Bagley is coming off an amazing 52-point performance last week in a win over Just Hoops by Hillcrest, but now the Bagley family will be…
Williams Field High School 6-foot-9 senior forward Wyatt Lowell waited until the early NCAA signing period to make his college decision. The period which begins on Wednesday, November 11th, will run for a full week, until November 18th. With many options on the table for himself, Lowell has made his college decision, and will sign a national letter of intent this week with a college program in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). Lowell has decided to sign this week with Utah Valley State and first year head coach Mark Pope and his basketball staff. Utah Valley will make it their…
Another player that emerged from this year’s Arizona Preps Fall Showcase was Mountain Pointe High School’s 6-foot-4 junior wing prospect Logan Matulis. An unknown prospect before his participation in this year’s event, Matulis is definitely one player to watch this season. While he is a major sleeper prospect for Arizona’s 2017 class of junior prospects in the state, Matulis is a very talented performer with a nice offensive skillset and an ability to make plays with an excellent feel for the game. He is a very unassuming offensive performer with very deceiving athleticism in the open floor. He has a…
The Arizona Preps Fall Showcase recently took place on the campus of Glendale Community College, and this year’s Showcase was as exciting as ever with many top performances from numerous prospects in the event. This year’s event also included some younger prospects that showed very well in the event – prospects that we would like to feature as some of the top young performers to watch for in the future. Three more young performers that I was impressed with in this year’s event were each mere 7th graders – Ty Ali a 5-foot 7th Grader from Odyssey Prep, a member…
The scholarship offers seem to just keep pouring in for St. Mary’s High School’s 6-foot-10 sophomore post prospect KJ Hymes, and at a rate very rarely seen in the state of Arizona and by such a young prospect. Hymes has had a whirlwind of a fall recruiting period – posting scholarship offers from some of the top basketball programs in America. This weekend, the University of Washington followed suit – offering a scholarship to the 6-foot-10 sophomore post talent. After a good summer performance, Hymes has peaked the interest of numerous college programs as of late – blowing him up with…
After a recent MVP performance at the Arizona Preps Fall Showcase, Casa Grande High School’s 6-foot-4, 185-pound senior guard Gresyn Rogers has seen his college recruitment begin to take shape quickly. This week, Rogers received a visit to his high school from an assistant coach from a Conference USA program. UTEP assistant coach Bob Cantu, one of the best recruiters in college basketball, has made a living out of finding and landing untapped basketball talent. Rogers caught the attention of Cantu, who traveled to Casa Grande, Arizona, to watch Rogers work out with his high school coach – Gino Crump. …

This year’s event also included some younger prospects that showed very well in the event – prospects that we would like to feature as some of the top young performers to watch for in the future. Two young performers that I was impressed with in this year’s event were a middle school prospect and another prospect that was middle school aged – freshman guard Ari Jones of Desert…
