The last time we featured a story about Pinnacle High School’s rising young talent, 6-foot-7 sophomore forward prospect Patrick Kelly, this young man looked much different. Now a year and a half later and Kelly looks to have developed nicely into a serious college prospect. In our recent Arizona Preps Fall Showcase event, Kelly emerged as one of the top young prospects in the event. Kelly has grown a great deal since we last saw him, as he now possesses a much stronger physical frame with broad shoulders, excellent length and superb athleticism for his age. While he should only…

McClintock High School’s gifted 5-foot-11 senior point guard Amiri Chukwuemeka is now off the recruiting board. After missing the entire summer evaluation period with an injury, Amiri elected to show loyalty to a college program that had shown loyalty to him – giving a verbal commitment to a strong division-II program. Amiri is among the elite overall guard prospects in the state’s 2016 class, but he was still very much a sleeper prospect this fall, since college coaches had not seen much of him due to the injury. As a result, he would give a verbal commitment this week to…
After a dominant performance for himself in his team’s recent loss to Hillcrest Prep Academy, South Mountain Junior College’s talented and tough 6-foot-9, 225-pound sophomore post Connor MacDougall had looked as though he was prepared to see his college recruitment begin to take new heights. But instead, much like his recruiting experience in high school, MacDougall would decide to pull the trigger with a college program just as fast as his college recruitment would begin to take shape. The decision would come down to relationships, as MacDougall would elect to give a verbal commit to the University of New Mexico…
The 2015-2016 junior college season in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) will begin later this month with each of the teams in the conference facing a challenging out-of-conference schedule and then facing each other during the conference schedule. This season will be a very good one as each team in the conference seems to have gotten better. There looks to be no true dominant team in the conference this season. Instead there looks to be a lot of parity with many prospects in the conference for smaller college programs and low to mid-major division-I programs to evaluate. Here…
After a strong performance in last weekend’s Arizona Preps Fall Showcase, where he was one of the top overall performers in the event, 6-foot-7 ultra-athletic forward Seth Mason announced that he has decided to reclassify grades – moving from the 2016 class to the 2017 junior class. As a result, Mason will now become one of the more sought after recruiting targets in the group. Mason also advised our staff that he has re-opened his college recruitment as well – de-committing from New Mexico Highlands University. Head coach Craig Snow previously extended an offer to Mason as a junior prospect, and…
While many of the state’s top basketball prospects were participating in last weekend’s Arizona Preps Fall Showcase, Gilbert High School’s sharp-shooting and athletic 6-foot-7 senior wing Chris Bowling was handling some recruiting business up north. While on an official recruiting visit to Northern Arizona University’s campus last weekend, Bowling would reel in a scholarship offer from NAU head coach Jack Murphy and his staff. The offer from Northern Arizona gives Bowling something to seriously think about now. While Bowling has still yet to garner as much division-I interest as expected, he has also received division-I offers thus far from Idaho…
The Arizona Power club program continues to turn out division-I players each year – helping develop and promote their players to college programs across the country. Highland High School’s 6-foot-8, 225-pound senior post Tim Fuller is coming off a strong showing this spring and summer, and also a strong junior season last year. As a result of Fuller’s recent performances, he received numerous division-I scholarship offers. Fuller generated scholarship offers from levels as high as the West Coast Conference, as Fuller received offers from such schools as Idaho, Portland State, San Francisco and Weber State. In the end, after taking numerous visits, Fuller decided to…
While it was not formally announced at this weekend’s Arizona Preps Fall Showcase event, the most impressive performance from this weekend’s event was turned in by Casa Grande High School’s 6-foot-4, 185-pound senior guard Gresyn Rogers, as selected by our Arizona Preps staff. Rogers really impressed scouts and media in attendance with his performance in this year’s event – enough to earn Tournament Most Valuable Player honors. One of the most under recruited prospects in Arizona’s 2016 class, Rogers is still an uncommitted prospect in the class. Rogers advised me that while he still has yet to earn any scholarship…
It was a big day on the campus of Glendale Community College on Saturday, as the annual and exciting Arizona Preps Fall Showcase took place again in front of a large number of fans and participants for the event. The 17th annual edition of Fall Showcase was action-packed and as exciting as ever, once again, as participants for this year’s event traveled from California, South Dakota and even Candad to take part in the event. Making this year’s event one to remember though was the college decision of the state’s top 2016 high school basketball prospect – Gilbert Christian High…
Gilbert Christian High School’s athletic and talented 6-foot-9, 210-pound senior post Mitch Lightfoot is the state’s top overall prospect in the 2016 class, and it showed as he drew significant college recruiting interest from some of the elite college programs in America. For Lightfoot and his family, it was the most important decision of his young life, and with the full support of his family, his club program, our staff at Arizona Preps and the Arizona basketball community, Lightfoot made his decision on Saturday in front of a packed house at this year’s 17th Annual Arizona Preps Fall Showcase! In…
