In surprising fashion today, Hillcrest Academy 7-foot-1 senior post DeAndre Ayton gave an early verbal commitment to the University of Arizona Wildcats – giving head coach Sean Miller his first #1 nationally rated player commitment ever, and also his biggest commitment ever. In very surprising fashion, it has been recently reported that 6-foot-5, 205-pound sophomore wing Timmy Allen has decided to transfer high schools.  After attending Desert Ridge HS his last two high school seasons and emerging as the state’s top overall prospect in Arizona’s 2018 class, Allen has decided to leave the school and enroll at Red Mountain HS. The reason for Allen’s transfer is undisclosed, although there have been some rumors regarding Allen getting into a fight with a high school teammate.  It has not been confirmed. Former Pima Junior College and Alaska native 6-foot-7 sophomore forward Kwintin Williams is the top returing junior college prospect in Arizona’s ACCAC junior college conference this season.  After a strong freshman season for Pima head coach Brian Peabody, Williams is prepared to have a big sophomore campaign, but it won’t be for Pima JC.  Instead, Williams has decided to land at Arizona Western Junior College in Yuma, AZ. Arizona Preps’ staff member, father, friend and coach Gary Thompkins (pictured left) lost his life on Saturday morning, after he was released from life support at John C. Lincoln Hospital amidst his family and friends.  With his wife Kelly and his children, his father and close personal friends in attendance at the hospital on Saturday morning, Thompkins was pronounced dead at 11:40AM on Saturday. Thompkins suffered a massive heart attack on Wednesday.  As a result, Thompkins was kept on life support until his son Sammy Thompkins arrived at the hospital on Saturday early morning. Arizona Preps’ staff member and close personal friend Gary Thompkins is fighting for his life at John C. Lincoln Hospital in north Phoenix, after suffering a massive heart attack on Wednesday.  As a result, Thompkins is currently on life support and has the full on support of his family and many friends.
