One of the top available prospects in the state of Arizona’s 2017 class is Mountain Ridge High School’s 6-foot-7 senior forward Jared Rodriguez. A very athletic wing prospect with good length and a very versatile skillset, Rodriguez has not seen his college recruitment take off as of yet. The Arizona Preps staff had a very busy weekend covering several events held in Phoenix. On Sunday we observed many of the games held at this year’s Southwest Exposure Showcase, organized by long-time successful tournament organizer Ron Coleman. Coleman always puts on large quality events for his participants, and this event featured many top-rated teams from inside the state, and also abroad. The Super 80 Showcase took place this weekend on the campus of Arizona Christian University, with several other events taking place over the weekend as well. Organized by tournament organizer Chad Groth, the event included numerous prospects that were looking to make a name for themselves with the college coaches, scouts and media in attendance. In very surprising fashion this week, Basha High School’s talented and promising 6-foot-5, 195-pound junior forward Gabe McGlothan decided to end his college recruitment and select a college basketball program that suits him nicely. After announcing earlier in the week that he would announce his decision this week, McGlothan gave a verbal commitment to a division-I program.
