This weekend the Redshirts, coached by Brian Fabiano and Jordan Ballard, traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada to take part in the Jam On It – Shoot The Rock Las Vegas tournament. A native of Oakland, California, where he attended Castlemont High School, Williams ventured to Westwind Prep this year after a breif stint at ABCD Prep in Texas. Phoenix College 6-foot, 160-pound sophomore point guard Christian Bower is among the top point guard prospects in Arizona’s junior college ranks (ACCAC), after leading his program to a 20-11 overall record on the season and a 12-8 record in the ACCAC this season. Bower was selected as a 2nd Team All Conference and also as a 1st Team Division-II All-Region selection this year. He ranked second in the ACCAC this season in assists after averaging 7.2 assists per/game. Salpointe Catholic High School’s 6-foot-6, 205-pound senior forward Talbott Denny is among the top unsigned senior prospects in the state. Denny is coming off a very good senior campaign, where he turned in his biggest and best season of his high school career – leading Salpointe to a 24-8 overall record on the season, and the quarterfinals of the Division-II state playoffs. Salpointe would eventually lose to Arcadia HS (80-67) at Wells Fargo Arena. Denny turned very good numbers on the season, averaging 15.3 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.3 steals per/game. The ultra-talented 2015 prospect is fresh off a very strong freshman season for the Aztecs, and, recently, she was selected as this year’s Tournament Most Valuable Player at the 2012 Southwest Showcase Main Event – a tournament organized by Ron Coleman. Boulder Creek High School’s ultra-skilled 6-foot-4, 190-pound junior guard Josh Braun is among the elite prospects in Arizona’s 2013 class. Braun is coming off an excellent junior season in which he led his Boulder Creek team to a 20-7 overall record on the season. Braun averaged a team-high in points and rebounds – averaging 18.5 points and 9.4 rebounds per/game, while playing almost every position on the floor for head coach Randy Walker. Cochise Junior College won the regular season ACCAC Conference title after a 16-4 record in the conference this season. A major reason for the program’s success this season was the play of 6-foot-3, 190-pound sophomore guard Nathan Sobey. With his play this season, Sobey was selected as a First Team All Conference and also a First Team Division-I All Region selection after the season.
