The Arizona Community College Athletic Association (ACCAC) just got better, as former 2019 Apollo High School graduate, Cal State Fullerton 6-foot-7, 190-pound Division-I transfer Emmanuel Taban has decided to transfer to Phoenix College. After spending his freshman season playing for Cal State Fullerton, Taban recently decided to transfer college programs, and has now landed in the ACCAC.
In high school, after a terrific career at Apollo under the strong leadership of Head Coach Jacob Marin, Taban found his college fit with Head Coach Dedrique Taylor and his Cal-State Fullerton program, where he would spend his freshman season. Taban received his share of college recruitment in high school, as he garnered numerous scholarship offers for himself, from such schools as Texas Tech, Kansas State, Nevada, UC-Santa Barbara, Grand Canyon, Wyoming, Portland State and Southern Utah.
In his senior season, Taban averaged 18.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per/contest, while leading Apollo to an impressive 25-4 overall record on the season.
Taban will enter his sophomore season now for Phoenix College Head Coach Duane Eason, whom has an excellent track record with developing prospects. Whenever there is a junior college season, which is currently proposed for a start in January (2021), Taban will pick up his play, development and his college recruitment. Taban has tremendous potential for the future, as he has exceptional upside as a basketball prospect. Possessing a long but very thin frame physically, Taban has a nice ability to shoot the basketball consistently with range, his best offensive asset. At his extreme size and length, Taban has the potential to develop into a serious college performer, after his brief stint in the junior college ranks.
Taban will become a highly sought after junior college prospect during his time at Phoenix College, and immediately becomes one of the conference's elite level talents and prospects.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Taban is a nice college prospect, as he has tremendous potential for the future, and exceptional upside as a basketball prospect. Possessing a long, but very thin frame physically, Taban is a long wing prospect with very good overall versatility and a slashing mindset. While an athletic wing performer with a nice ability to slash and finish plays, and a pure shooting stroke with range, Taban is an attractive prospect, although he needs to continue to get bigger physically - possessing a thin frame. Taban's best offensive asset is his ability to shoot the basketball with range. He is also able to slash and score in the lane, or in the open floor, where he thrives and enjoys getting out on the break. His ability to make plays in the open floor and when slashing to the basket are valuable qualities as a player. He is a solid defender that uses his length and athleticism to defend passing lanes and get steals, while also being able to deflect passes. He is also a very good shotblocker, as a result of his length and timing as a shotblocker. He has excellent versatility as a player, and should be able to play several positions on the floor over time as he matures physically. A very good looking juco prospect that will have many options after a stint in the ACCAC.
