One of the top overall guard prospects in the state and also one of the elite 2024 prospects in the country, 6-foot-3 tough and skilled sophomore guard Adam Njie has found a new home, after leaving the Eduprize Prep basketball program. Njie has landed at Hillcrest Prep and will add to an already very loaded roster of prospects, after Eduprize decided to not have a National Prep Team this prep season. I caught up with Eduprize Prep Head Coach and Director of Operations Christian Polk, and he advised me that the program has decided to step down from The Grind Session this…

The Arizona Community College Athletic Association (ACCAC) will look a little different this junior college season, after Mesa Community College Head Coach Sam Ballard recently stepped down as head coach at the program. Ballard who coached for (12) seasons at MCC decided to leave the program in late October, just before the start to another season – stating that the lack of financial support for the program led to his decision. As a result, Ballard has chosen to take some time off, before looking for other opportunities available to him and his family in the future. It had been thought…
One prospect in the state of Arizona’s 2022 Class that elite college programs need to take a hard look at, as I have stated for years now, is AZ Compass Prep’s athletic and high-motor 7-foot senior post Adrame Diongue. Still uncommitted, Diongue flourished under the recruiting radar for some time, and is just beginning to see his college recruitment begin to take off, as many college programs have now extended offers to the elite post talent. Diongue is now one of the elite post talents in the country, and holding it down in the middle for the nation’s #1 overall…
One of the top sleeper prospects currently in Arizona’s 2022 Class is still developing and has his best years well ahead of him. While growing and improving a great deal over the past year, Bella Vista Prep’s 6-foot-8 senior post Terrance Dixon is just beginning to realize some of his tremendous potential and scratching the surface of what he could become over time. Dixon has been on the move over the past couple years – leaving a once strong Desert Vista program, and now has landed at Bella Vista Prep for his senior season where he will compete all season…
Last season, The Grind Session gave Arizona basketball enthusiasts our complete fill of top-rated basketball games, players and moments that we will not soon forget. During the COVID pandemic and while most others states across the country were closed for such competition, Arizona remained open for some of the best basketball action in America through the amazing opportunities created by play on The Grind Session. With many past players now in the collegiate ranks and some in the NBA, this circuit returns for a new season, which will pick up this week in the state of Arizona for it’s next…

The PHH Prep basketball program has been extremely successful over the years in placing their respective players in college programs all over the country. Program Director John Ortega is one of the very best in the business nationally at helping his players land nice college homes for themselves. While also having tremendous success in his Arizona-based Arizona Select program (formerly known as Powerhouse Hoops and the Arizona Power), Ortega then formed the PHH Prep basketball program, and the prep program has been just as successful at helping their prospects obtain major recruitment for college. This year is no different for…
Arizona basketball is loaded with top-rated national boys prospects in the state, and continues to progress with the blossoming of Arizona prep schools, and while many top-rated prospects continue to land in the state to play at these prep schools, some of the prospects already in the fold are changing programs. While it does not happen often, for former Hillcrest Prep 6-foot-6, 180-pound senior wing Chance Westry, this is the case. After giving a recent big verbal commitment last weekend to the University of Auburn, Westry made his decision for college, and also decided to change prep programs before the…
After year’s without a men’s and women’s junior college basketball program, and after many years of success in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) and nationally, Yavapai Junior College has announced their return to men’s and women’s junior college basketball during the 2022-2023 junior college season. The program, which was once heralded among the top junior college programs in the country, discontinued their basketball programs in 2011, and have not competed since. The program recently announced, in exciting fashion, their return to basketball competition next fall. “Bringing back men’s and women’s basketball has been a dream of mine for…
The state of Arizona is now being recruited better and harder than every before, as more and more elite prospects in all classes are now receiving strong recruiting interest from college programs. Student-athletes are being recruited more at younger ages as well, which is benefiting the student-athlete, as more schools look to get involved earlier in the recruiting process as a result. One big offer can catapult a prospect’s college recruitment much earlier now, as many schools look to see who will get involved first. For Notre Dame Prep’s ultra-skilled skilled freshman guard Brennan Peterson, this will certainly be the…
