The wait is finally over for Glendale Junior College 6-foot-8 sophomore Adam Hamilton. Our selection for the ACCAC D-II Player of the Year, Hamilton saw serious development as a player throughout his tenure at Glendale JC and under Head Coach Ken Carrillo, but saw limited college recruitment in the process. After a long wait Hamilton has found his college fit - giving a verbal commitment to Lamar University, a member of the WAC Conference.
Last weekend, Hamilton took an official recruiting visit to Lamar, and after the weekend, Hamilton decided to pull the trigger rather than wait to make a later decision. With schools still looking to get involved with him, Hamilton decided to give a verbal pledge to Head Coach Alvin Brooks and his basketball staff. Assistant coach Charles Harral, former Head Coach of Arizona Western JC, was instrumental in recruiting Hamilton - a nice aspect of Hamilton's recruitment, as Harral reached back to recruit prospects from his former junior college conference, the ACCAC.
Hamilton has really grown into his abilities over the past several years, and turned in his best season to date this past season - averaging 18.5 points, 10.6 rebounds and shooting 52.6% from the field in the process. Hamilton ranked second in the conference in scoring and 3rd in rebounding, while leading his Glendale team to a second place finish among Division-II programs in the conference and an 18-13 overall record on the season.
Hamilton is a rare find for his size, as he can play inside and out and has a large and lengthy frame, which allows him to block and change shots, and also finish strong around the paint. He runs the floor like a guard and has excellent versatility as a player. He has become much more consistent in his shooting stroke from longer ranges, and also has a nice mid-range jump shot, and is also able to put the ball on the floor and make aggressive plays at the rim and around the paint. His upside is glaring and he is also a fine young man with an excellent approach to the game, and a fine personality.
Congratulations to Adam Hamilton and the Glendale Junior College program on this amazing accomplishment from our Arizona Preps' staff, and we wish him good luck in his future @ Lamar University.
