Northern Arizona new head coach Jack Murphy is very much like the head coach he worked for at Memphis – Josh Pastner. Murphy is very young, hardworking and even relentless, and getting it done in a major way since being hired. Murphy was recently hired to take over a struggling Northern Arizona basketball program and tasked with revitalizing the program’s commitment to recruiting the best basketball talent in the state of Arizona. While former head coach Mike Adras often recruited abroad and passed on much of the top-rated Arizona prospects, Murphy, in just two short weeks, has reeled in letters of intent from two of the state’s…

While many college coaches traveled to Arkansas this past weekend to view this year’s Real Deal On The Hill basketball tournament, many college coaches were also in attendance in Las Vegas, Nevada this weekend at this year’s Double Pump Spring Classic. With many coaches looking to catch a glimpse of some lesser known high-major division-I talent in this weekend’s event, Westview High School’s 6-foot-8 sophomore post Andre Adams rose to the occassion. An almost unknown prospect before this weekend’s event, Adams would emerge this wekeend as one of the top up-and-coming young prospects in the West. A young but very talented prospect, Adams was…
The group of unsigned senior Arizona prospects that make up this year’s version of the Arizona Magic Seniors have come a long way in a short amount of time. Each club season, a group of Arizona players are organized and developed in a span of a month, at the most, in an attempt to gain exposure to college coaches and land a college scholarship, while competing against the best competition the West Coast has to offer. It is always a very difficult task as each prospect comes to a new team after spending an entire season with their respective high school teams. …

Basha HS 6-foot-5 junior combo-guard prospect Jaron Hopkins is our top-rated prospect in Arizona’s 2013 class. After having a very strong junior season this past year, Hopkins is beginning to turn heads of college coaches on the AAU/club circuit this spring, so much that he has generated 11 different scholarship offers for himself. Last weekend, after a strong performance in Las Vegas, Nevada, while taking part in the Adidas VIP Exclusive Run, Hopkins reeled in 3 more scholarship offers for himself – including a big offer from the University of Arizona and head coach Sean Miller. An offer from Arizona is a rare event…
Arizona State Head Coach Herb Sendek and his basketball staff have done an excellent job in recruiting the state of Arizona in recent years, and Thursday evening they continued to make their claim for Arizona’s top-rated talent. After already making a big push for Corona Del Sol’s talented sophomore guard Casey Benson and Pinnacle High School’s superb sophomore guard Dorian Pickens, extending offers to both prospects early, the Sun Devils have done it again. Thursday evening the Sun Devils’ staff made an official scholarship offer to another member of Arizona’s gifted 2014 class, as they made a strong push for South Mountain…
Last weekend many of Arizona’s top prospects in the 2012, 2013 and 2014 classes traveled to the state of California to take part in the 2012 Double Pump Best Buy Challenge Hoop Fest. The event took place at four different locations with the headquarters of the event being hosted by Cal-State University Dominguez Hills in Carson, CA. I was in attendance for Saturday and Sunday’s action at this weekend’s event and caught much of the action, including the final day’s championship games. Here are the top individual sophomore performers from the state of Arizona from last weekend’s event. 2012 Double Pump Best Buy Challenge…
This weekend was a great weekend for Arizona basketball as many Arizona teams participated in exposure events in California and especially Las Vegas, Nevada. With several events taking place this weekend in Las Vegas, the Arizona Magic 15U squad would win the Gold Division Tournament Championship at this year’s Big Foot Las Vegas Grand Opening Tournament. The Magic 15U squad, coached by Chris Hurst, would go undefeated in the event after winning their pool. They would then defeat the Top Gun / Coastal Elite Blue in the semi-finals, before then defeating Arizona’s own, the Arizona Dream Team, in the championship game of the…
While some of Arizona’s top teams traveled this past weekend to California, there was also a lot of exciting action taking place last weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada, as the remainder of the state’s top teams traveled to Vegas to take part in the Pangos Spring Spectacular, while one team participated in the Adidas VIP Exclusive Run. While there were many top performers this weekend in both events, three prospects from the state of Arizona stood out from the rest as college coaches, scouts and media took major notice. Mesa Mountain View’s 6-foot-9 sophomore post Payton Dastrup, Basha High School’s 6-foot-5 junior combo-guard Jaron Hopkins…
