St. Mary’s High School (16-12) advanced to the Final Four of the 4A State Playoffs on Friday evening with a big 78-54 second round playoff victory over Salpointe Catholic High School. St. Mary’s received a balanced offensive attack on the evening to lead them to victory. 6-foot-7 senior Caspian Jones finished with a game-high 24 points in the win. Prescott High School (20-5) has had a wild ride this high school season, behind the amazing exploits of senior guard Uriah Tenette. While Tenette has been absolutely amazing this season, and is closing in on becoming one of the all-time scoring leaders in Arizona basketball history, the play of 6-foot-10, 215-pound senior post Zane Gaul has been consistent, which has helped Prescott to numerous big wins this high school season. The 15th Annual So Cal Senior Showcase will be held Sunday, March 23rd at Santiago Canyon College in the city of Orange. It is open to teams and individuals from high school, and also club programs, Prep schools and Junior Colleges who are unsigned in the class of 2025 (only). The event is designed to provide all players an exposure opportunity to demonstrate their talents/skills in highly competitive games for the college coaches, scouts, and media expected to attend. Pima College (27-0, 15-0) has been truly amazing this season, and have turned in one of the best junior college seasons in the history of the NJCAA. Pima is currently ranked as the nation’s #2 overall team in the country for Division-II programs, and they do not look to be slowing down anytime soon. While it was widely recognized that Pima would be terrific this season, as good as I believed they would be, the program has more than exceeded expectations this season. Mesa Community College 6-foot-4 sophomore guard Talbot Cummard has worked hard over the past two years to make himself into a very good four-year college prospect.
