Last week was a week filled with exciting basketball action for this year’s 21st Annual Fear The Hop basketball tournament at Mesa High School, as this event annually represents the start to the boy’s high school basketball season. Each participating high school program competes in (4) games throughout the week, which has extreme value for each of the high school programs in competition. Supreme Academy is a new prep program in the state, and the program had an excellent performance in this year’s Arizona Preps Fall Showcase event in October. No prospect in the event had a better performance than Supreme Academy 6-foot-3 senior guard Carlos Coronado. Coronado was terrific in his performance in this year’s event, and has been among the elite performers in the state’s 2025 Class for some time now. It was an exciting early-season match-up on paper between two of the state’s top overall teams and programs in the 6A Division. With such a highly anticipated early-season duel, it created a lot of excitement for those in attendance Friday evening, going into the game. The start to the 2024-2025 high school basketball season officially got underway on Wednesday evening around the state with numerous games kicking off the regular season. A very nice early season match-up on Wednesday between host Basha High School and visiting Canyon View High School took place in exciting fashion, as we normally do not get to see such a nice match-up this early in the season.
