The championship game at Mesa High School in this year’s Fear The Hop pre-season tournament Saturday evening featured two of the state’s elite high school programs, as Mesa HS (4-0) and Gilbert HS (3-1) matched up in an exciting war.  This game seemed to be a preview of what may happen late in the season, as two very-well coached programs fought it out. Brophy Prep continued their strong play for the 2012-2013 high school basketball season – improving their overall record on the early season to 4-0 Friday evening with a big double-overtime victory over a very talented Westview High School program, 76-73.  The big victory earned the Broncos this year’s tournament championship of the pre-season Arrowhead Desert Classic. The state of Arizona’s best basketball prospects have been in need of serious skill development and training for a long time.  Over the past 10 years in the state, the call has been heard as today many different developers of talent have emerged.  Today there are many more trainers to now choose from, and, as a result, players are improving a great deal. During this time period, high school prospects will have the opportunity to sign their respective national letters of intent with the school of their choice.  The NLI seals the deal for a college prospect with the desired school – once a student-athlete signs the NLI he/she is locked in to the program.
