The state of Arizona’s young basketball talent is quickly emerging, with numerous younger prospects taking center stage for the future of Arizona basketball. One of these young prospects is Shea Middle School’s 5-foot-8, 130-pound 8th grader Jaelen House. House is the son of former NBA sharp-shooter and Arizona State superstar guard Eddie House, and, like his father, this young man is a load. Eddie House had his number retired at ASU after an historic career there, and he also won an NBA title with the Boston Celtics. Jaelen House has yet to reach the high school ranks, but this youngster…

One of the top overall prospects in Arizona’s 2016 class is Shadow Mountain High School’s athletic and talented 6-foot-3 junior guard JJ Rhymes. Rhymes is coming off another strong season for himself and is now primed for a big club season. Rhymes had a strong junior season while leading his Matadors to a nice 23-7 overall record this season while averaging 21.2 points and 6.9 rebounds per/game. Rhymes joined forces with another top-rated prospect at Shadow this season, senior guard Craig Randall – giving the Matadors one of the best one-two scoring punches in the state. Rhymes will look to…
Shadow Mountain High School’s talented and gifted 6-foot-1 junior point guard prospect Michael Bibby Jr. has seen his college recruitment take a hit, as he has been out of action for close to a year. After suffereing an injury (knee) last spring during the club season, and then suffering another injury (ankle) early during the high school season, the star guard prospect has had to sit and watch a lot of basketball over the year with hopes of returning to the basketball court soon. This season, Bibby had hoped to again lead his high school program to another Division-II state…

This week saw a new era begin in Arizona basketball, not just club basketball, as the Arizona Club Basketball League (ACBL) began this week at Red Mountain High School. While the location of the league is absolutely as far as you can drive before you begin to believe you are leaving the state, it was well worth the trip this week as the state’s top club programs gathered together to compete for the first week of action. League organizer Kenny Mullins has done what no one ever thought could be done in this state among basketball club organizers – get…
Phoenix College superstar sophomore point guard prospect Brandon Brown has made his college decision. With many schools looking to pursue Brown this spring, the ACCAC Conference’s best player made a decision to sign this spring with a rising college program in the West Coast Conference (WCC). On Monday afternoon, Brown gave a verbal commitment to Loyola Marymount University and first-year head coach Mike Dunlap. Dunlap took over the LMU program last year after a stint in the NBA, and is widely recognized as one of the elite coaches in the world of basketball and a tremendous player developer. Dunlap also spent some…
