The 13th annual Pangos All-American Camp was held again this past weekend, Friday-Sunday May 29-31, 2015 @ Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson, CA. This national camp has served as a “coming out” party for many top past and current HS all-americans, and also has showcased many national “sleeper” prospects. Past camp standouts have included such superstars as James Harden (Arizona State/Houston Rockets/2009 NBA Draft #3 pick), Brandon Jennings (Detroit Pistons/2009 NBA Draft #10 pick), John Wall (2008 Rivals.com #1 player/Kentucky/Washington Wizards/#1 pick of the 2010 NBA Draft), Harrison Barnes (Scout.com & ESPN.com’s #1 2010 player/North Carolina/Golden State Warriors lottery pick), Shabazz Muhammad (consensus #1 in 2012/UCLA/Minnesota Timberwolves), Stanley Johnson (NBN #1 player/projected Top 5 pick…

One of the top overall prospects in Arizona’s 2017 class before he decided to move back to the state of New Jersey was 6-foot-1 sophomore guard Jaiyer Jinwright. Jinwright spent his freshman season in Arizona but decided to move back to West Orange, New Jersey for his sophomore season where he played at Newark East Side High School (NJ). Now Jinwright is considering making a move back to the state of Arizona, where he could land at a state high school basketball power. Jinwright moved to Arizona during the summer of 2013, and then decided to attend Queen Creek High…
Former Corona Del Sol High School graduate and Arizona State transfer, 6-foot-8, 220-pound freshman post Connor MacDougall saw very little playing time during his freshman season for the Sun Devils. As a result, MacDougall decided to transfer from the PAC-12 program and has landed at a local junior college program in the ACCAC. In case you missed it, MacDougall has decided to transfer to the junior college ranks and will play his sophomore season for South Mountain Junior College next season. At SMCC, MacDougall will look to regain the form that made him a once very attractive post prospect to…
One of the better freshman guard prospects in the ACCAC this past junior college basketball season was Arizona Western Junior College 6-foot-2 freshman point guard prospect Nate Moore. Moore had a solid season for himself, after landing in Yuma, Arizona via the state of Wisconsin. I caught up with Moore this spring and he advised me that he was in the process of thinking over his options for school next fall (2015), and that he was unsure as to whether he would return to AWC next season. It is still unclear as to whether Moore has made his decision on…
One of the top overall prospects in Arizona’s 2016 class is 6-foot-7 junior wing Brock Gardner of Tri-City Christian Academy in Chandler, AZ. After a stellar junior season where he did it all as a player for his team and put up tremendous numbers on the season, Gardner has received some serious recruiting interest for himself. While playing for a smaller high school program that does not compete against many of the state’s best teams, it is much more difficult to gain recruiting attention. Gardner has been the answer throughout his high school career, as he has simply put up…
Several other prospects in the 2016 class have seen high-major college recruitment early. For Gilbert High School’s talented and skilled 6-foot-6 junior wing Chris Bowling, the recruiting process has been very slow to pick up. For whatever reason, Bowling is expecting a big and busy recruiting month of July for himself. Bowling is definitely looking to reel in numerous scholarship offers this July, as he is a very talented prospect in the class. For Bowling, the first offer will be one to remember, although so many offers should soon pour in, now as college coaches begin to focus on the…
The Gilbert Christian High School program is loaded with basketball talent and has quickly built a basketball dynasty of their own in recent years – much like that of state power Corona Del Sol. While Corona has absolutely dominated the Division-I ranks, Gilbert Christian has done very much of the same in the lower divisions – first 3A, and now Division-II. Gilbert Christian is coming off another impressive state championship season this year after finishing 25-6 on the season, and the team will return every major piece to this year’s team next season. While everyone already knows about star 6-foot-9…
It has now finally come to an end in a long, winding recruiting bonanza for gifted 6-foot-3 senior combo-guard Sammy Barnes-Thompkins. After first verbally committing to St. John’s University this spring, and then deciding to re-open his college recruitment after a coaching change, Thompkins has found a new home for himself and it is another big one – this time in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Thompkins took an official recruiting visit to Saint Mary’s College this past weekend, one of the nation’s premier programs for producing quality guards, and while it looked as though Thompkins was headed to play…
The Team Bibby club program had a huge weekend in this year’s Southwest Showcase Summer Championships – winning numerous tournament championships for boys and girls and at many different levels. In the girl’s 17U division of the event, Team Bibby 17U proved to be the class of the event – winning the tournament championship. After finishing second in their pool (1-1), the team put it all together win it counted and defeated a strong Arizona Magic Elite team, 50-48, in the tournament semi-finals. They then held on in fine fashion to win the tournament title with a 41-38 championship win…
