5-foot-11 high-energy sophomore guard Jordan Martin helped lead his Cochise College team to this year’s NJCAA Division-I Region I championship – upsetting top-seeded Mesa Community College in the championship game. Martin was one of the ACCAC’s top performers the past two seasons, and this season he put it all together for himself and Cochise.  Martin ranked among the top individual scorers in the conference this season – averaging 17.7 points per/game and 3.5 assists. Recently, while I believed that he was definitely a division-I prospect, Martin decided to sign a national letter of intent with Hawaii-Pacific University – an absolute…

I was in attendance on Wednesday evening for this week’s action in the exciting Arizona Club Basketball League (ACBL), and the game of the evening featured the state’s top two 16 & Under teams from this spring, the Arizona D1 Nation 16U team and the Arizona Magic Elite 16U. Both teams have been terrific this spring, as each program won both major evaluation events of the spring evaluation period.  D1 Nation won both 16U titles at both Double Pump  spring events, while the Magic team also won both 16U titles at both Pangos events of the spring – although the…

While superstar 6-foot-11 freshman Marvin Bagley III will eventually receive scholarship offers from every college program across America, the latest elite high-major division-I rogram to jump into the Bagley sweepstakes is the University of Kentucky.  Kentucky extended an offer to Bagley this week – joining many other college programs that have already shown their hands early in the recruiting process. Bagley received an offer rom head coach John Calipari personally – an impressive honor for the gifted young superstar. “I just want to give God the praise,” Bagley told the Arizona Republic newspaper.  “I also want to thank Coach Calipari…

Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report:  Bagley, simply put, is one of the most advanced young basketball players that you will ever see.  Already standing 6-foot-11, Bagley moves very well up and down the floor and already plays with a knack for the game well above his age.  He has a very quick twitch around the basket, in which he uses to get up quickly for a finesse finish on either side of the basket, or just rise right up and power a dunk down – usually over defenders.  He also possesses advanced footwork in the post, as he feels where his defenders…

It is amazing when you see a prospect that received very little playing time for his high school program, continue to work hard and benefit in the end.  This is definitely the case for super athletic 6-foot-7 combo-forward prospect Seth Mason. Mason is one of the state’s most athletically gifted performers, but saw very little playing time last season for Pinnacle High School.  The team was definitely loaded with talent, but, in my opinion, could have used this superb athletic talent a great deal more than they did.  As a result, Mason will be transferring high schools next season and…

The wait is finally over for talented and gifted 5-foot-9 senior point guard prospect Noelle Kellers.  After sitting out her final season of high school this year, Kellers has found a college home and it is a big-time opportunity for her, as Kellers has decided to go the juco route – landing at #1 ranked Trinity Valley Junior College in Texas. Trinity Valley is the nation’s top women’s basketball program, and is coming off winning their third consecutive national championship in a row this season. Kellers advised me that she is very excited about the opportunity. “Their program is amazing,”…

Lately, the state of Arizona’s best basketball prospects have seen scholarship offers begin to pour in for numerous different student-athletes – suggesting basketball has definitely improved in the state. One recipient is top-rated Corona Del Sol’s 6-foot-3, 170-pound junior guard Tyrell Henderson.  Henderson recently received a scholarship offer and decided to jump on it, giving a verbal pledge to a rising program in the Big Sky Conference. Recently, the Portland State basketball staff has shown their commitment to Arizona basketball prospects by extending scholarship offers to many prospects in the state.  Well, hook and sinker.  The program made an offer…

Phoenix College has landed one of the most explosive scorers of the basketball in the state – signing Independence High School’s athletically gifted and high-scoring 6-foot-3 senior guard Kaveon Moore of Independence High School. Moore is one of the most unheralded prospects in Arizona’s 2015 class, as he put up very impressive overall numbers this season, but received very little college recruiting interest.  As a result, Moore has decided to head the junior college route for next season, where he will spend atleast a year and maybe two seasons developing his skillset and improving his college recruitment. At Phoenix College,…

Arcadia High School’s 6-foot-5 senior forward Connor Nichols is coming off a terrific senior season where he put up some serious scoring numbers, and also led his high school program to a Division-II state runner-up finish.  As a result, Nichols received a lot of college interest, but he did not get the division-I interest that he had desired.  After mulling over his options for next year, Nichols made his decision this week. Nichols has decided to accept a scholarship to play for Colorado Mesa University, where he will play for head coach Andy Shantz.  Nichols is the second Arizona prospect…
