The majority of Arizona’s top prospects in the 2016 class are now off the recruiting board, but one top-rated prospect, while receiving loads of college interest currently, has decided to go the prep school route for next fall. Dysart High School’s 2016 graduate, 6-foot-10 post Malik Ondigo has really impressed this spring during the NCAA Evaluation Period.  Ondigo, after mulling over many recruiting options recently, advised me this week that he plans to attend South Kent Prep in Connecticut in the fall, and will play a post-graduate year at the prep program – making Ondigo a 2017 prospect. This week,…

South Mountain Junior College’s steady 6-foot freshman point guard prospect Jackson Price is finally off the recruiting board.  After a strong freshman season, one of the best in the ACCAC for freshmen, Price has found a college home, and will not return for his sophomore season to South Mountain JC. First it was 6-foot-4 freshman forward Terrence Johnson who decided on a division-I program, James Madison University, now it is Jackson Price.  This week, after mulling over many recruiting options for his future, Price decided to accept an NAIA scholarship offer to Lindenwood University.  Lindenwood University is an NAIA program…

Pima Junior College 5-foot-9 sophomore guard Yusef Shehata had a very good sophomore season for head coach Brian Peabody and his team putting up very good numbers this season.  As a result, Shehata would sign a national letter of intent with a new staff at a strong division-II program in the West. Last week, Shehata signed a national letter of intent with Point Loma Nazarene University and their new men’s basketball staff – an excellent honor for Shehata who was among the top overall producers in the ACCAC this junior college season. Shehata averaged 16.1 points, 3.2 assists and 3.2…

Desert Ridge High School is loaded with basketball talent but one of the lesser known top-rated prospects on the team is 6-foot-7 rising senior forward Billy Jordan.  Jordan is a superb talent with excellent bloodlines for the future.  Here is my take on one of the better prospects in Arizona’s 2017 class. Jordan is coming off a solid junior season with Desert Ridge High School – helping lead the team to a successful season, although the team was unable to get deep into the state playoffs.   Jordan proved this high school season that he is worthy of serious consideration among…

While a greater majority of Arizona’s top prospects in the 2017 class have been identified, the 2018 class is still relatively unknown to many.  One player that will be a household name soon in that class is 2018’s 6-foot-1, 185-pound PG Michael Rogers of Cesar Chavez High School in Phoenix, Arizona. (I-10 Celtics 16U aau/club) Rogers quietly put together a great sophomore campaign for the Champions of Cesar Chavez, as he averaged a solid 11 points, 3.3 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game.  He also showed no signs of slowing down, as he has competed at a very…

One of the elite rising sophomore prospects in the state of Arizona is Westview High School’s talented 6-foot-3 rising sophomore guard D’Maurian Williams.  Williams is coming off a strong freshman season where put up solid numbers on the season.  As a result, Williams projects as one of the elite prospects in Arizona’s 2019 freshman class. I had the opportunity watch Williams perform this high school season, and came away very impressed with his ability to play the game of basketball and make plays for himself and others.  Williams is an advanced prospect that is able to take the game into…

Desert Vista High School’s skilled 6-foot-5 rising senior wing prospect Noah Baumann missed much of his junior season with an injury, but the gifted wing prospect would utilize the spring evaluation period to prove his value as a college prospect – performing very strong on the aau/club circuit. Baumann is one of the state’s most underrated prospects, and he has become one of my favorite sleeper prospects in the state – regardless of class.  This spring, I was extremely impressed with Baumann’s ability to make consistent plays against the top competition in the West, as he teamed up alongside superstar…

One of the top prospects in Arizona’s 2018 class of younger prospects is Brophy Prep High School’s talented and sharp-shooting 6-foot-6 rising junior wing Jaxson Baker.  Baker emerged this spring very big and quickly developed into one of the state’s elite prospects in the 2018 class. Baker went into the spring evaluation period regarded as one of the top talents in the state’s 2018 class, and he did not disappoint, as he came up very big in each of his team’s games, while playing for a loaded Powerhouse Hoops 16U Black team that won many games on the spring circuit. …

Greenway High School’s Scotty Shaver is on a mission this summer in preparation for his final senior season.  The talented 6-foot-3, 170-pound rising senior point guard Scotty Shaver is among the top guards in Arizona’s 2017 class and is ready to prove to the state just how good he is. I watched Shaver perform last week in his team’s first summer league games at Greenway High School, and was very impressed with this young man’s toughness and basketball IQ.  Shaver is a hard-nosed guard prospect that plays to win and will do whatever it takes to lead his team to…

Chaparral High School’s talented and skilled guard prospect, 6-foot rising senior point guard Colton Kresl is among the most talented performers in the state – regardless of class.  A big-time scorer of the basketball, Kresl is coming off a strong showing this spring, after a strong junior season campaign. Kresl currently holds one scholarship offer from Northern Arizona University and head coach Jack Murphy and his staff.  I look for Kresl to begin to garner much more recruiting interest this summer (2016), as this young man is regarded among the guard prospects in the state. Kresl has had a good…
