Many prospects around the country now utilize the club season to make a name for themselves on the recruiting front.  As a result, the opportunity to play for top-rated club teams has become an important aspect of the process.  For many top-rated Arizona prsopects over the years, the same decision has become common place.

For Chandler High School's rapidly developing and ultra-talented 2018 prospect, 6-foot-6, 185 pound SG/W Tevian Jones, the decision was easy after his older brother Torren Jones selected the Nike sponsored Cal Supreme during his club career.  Tevian would do the same this spring and summer - blowing up with numerous college coaches in the process.

This summer was especially big for Jones, as he competed at a very high level for his club team - competing alongside the nation's #1 overall 2018 prospect, Hillcrest Prep Academy 7-foot-1 senior post DeAndre Ayton.  Ayton led the Cal Supreme to an impressive final-four finish in the Nike Peach Jam in Georgia in July.  Jones benefited a great deal from the exposure that came with such a performance, and also showcased his skillsets at the right time.

As a result, Jones has received some serious division-I offers from numerous division-I programs across the country, as such schools as USC, San Diego State, Nevada, Grand Canyon, Pepperdine and Rice have each recently offered Jones.  Many other programs such as UCLA, Washington and Gonzaga are each showing excellent interest.

Jones also recently made a huge announcement to the recruiting world, when he advised basketball media that he will elect to go to college with stud 2018 prospect, 6-foot-10 junior forward Shareef O'Neal - the son of legendary NBA center Shaquille O'Neal.

"Me and Shareef O'Neal are talking about going to the same school, either UCLA or Arizona. That's who I want to be recruited by and I'm getting recruited by UCLA right now," Jones told Scout.com.

"We both like how they play. We like their style of play and their staffs. We looked them up together and want to stick together."

The future is just beginning to unfold for Jones, who is a budding young star and now at the top of our 2018 Player Rankings.  Jones is currently now rated as the #66 overall prospect in America's 2018 class by Scout.com

Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report:  A very long and athletic wing, Jones is a serious high-major division-I talent with loads of upside for the future.  He has really developed a great deal over the past year and has proven to be a serious national prospect.  Tevian is able to take players off the dribble using his long stride, while also being able to use his superior athleticism to finish over/around or dunk on defenders.  He also has a very smooth release on his jumper - able to knock down mid-range jumpers and also extend to the 3-point line.  He also has a solid handle of the basketball, and is able to push the ball in transition and finish.  He has solid court vision from the wing position and has a good ability to find the open teammate on the floor.  He is also able to put smaller defenders on the block, in half-court situations, and post them up with a solid set of post moves for a wing - displaying he has a good basketball IQ in regards to putting himself in the best scoring situation.  On the defensive end, Jones uses his tools, such as his length and athleticism, to block many shots, get his hand in the passing lanes, due to his quick defensive reads, and cause overall issues for players who are trying to get into their own offensive rhythm.  Jones is oozing with upside as a prospect, as his frame is still very long, and looks as if he can add maybe 1 or 2 more inches to his overall height.
