Superstar 7-foot-1 rising senior post talent DeAndre Ayton of Hillcrest Prep Academy is the state and the nation’s premier prospect in the 2017 class. Ayton is a bonafide future NBA Lottery pick and has every college coach in the country’s attention. As a junior for Hillcrest Academy, Ayton averaged over 30.3 points, 16.5 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per/game. Ayton is a sure-fire NBA Lottery pick in the 2018 draft, and has an unbelievable ceiling as a pro prospect. No prospect in the country, at any level, has the potential of Ayton, as he is regarded as the consensus #1 player…
One of the best looking prospects in Arizona’s 2018 class is 6-foot-6, 185 pound SG/W Tevian Jones of Chandler HS. While Jones has spent a majority of his time competing with the out-of-state California Supreme aau/club team on the Nike-sponsored EYBL Circuit, he recently competed in some local events with the Arizona Power organization, and his growth from playing in the EYBL was undeniable. A very long wing, Jones truly did whatever he wanted to on the offensive end to any defender standing in front of him. Tevin was able to take players off the dribble using his long stride,…
Mountain Pointe High School’s 6-foot-6 senior forward Lawrence Combs soared well below the recruiting radar in Arizona, even though he deserved a lot higher recruiting attention. As a result, Combs turned back his cap and straight played his way into a scholarship offer with a strong performance this spring on the AAU/club circuit. This is an excellent story for Arizona’s youth basketball talent today, as Combs did not pout but rather earned himself a scholarship through hard work and strong play. While playing for a talented Powerhouse Hoops 17U Black team this spring, a team that would finish very strong…
The time to decide on a college home has really been long overdue for Cesar Chavez High School’s 2015 graduate Rashaad Goolsby. After graduating from high school and then mulling over many options for his future, Goolsby has now finally made a move – electing for a local junior college basketball power. This week, Goolsby chose to sign a national letter of intent with Phoenix College and head coach Matt Gordon. Phoenix College is known for developing and also landing a lot of Arizona’s eligible basketball talent, especially late in the spring. Goolsby was among the best sleeper prospects in…
Pinnacle High School’s rising young talent, 6-foot-8 sophomore forward prospect Patrick Kelly, is among the top young prospects in the state, but he has decided to change paths for himself, and will be leaving the state of Arizona this summer to return to the East Coast. Patrick and his mother Kari Kelly moved to the state of Arizona just three years ago from North Carolina, and now they will be returning back to the East Coast this summer, and moving to the state of Virginia where a lot of their family resides. After two good seasons at Pinnacle HS, while…
The majority of Arizona’s top prospects in the 2016 class are now off the recruiting board, but one top-rated prospect, while receiving loads of college interest currently, has decided to go the prep school route for next fall. While he is still undecided as to which prep school he will attend, Dysart High School’s 6-foot-10 senior post Malik Ondigo has really impressed this spring during the NCAA Evaluation Period. Ondigo has blossomed this spring, after a spring and summer (2015) last year where he struggled somewhat due to tendinitis in his knees, as a result of his immense physical growth. …
One of the better sleeper prospects that I witnessed this spring during the NCAA Evaluation Period was Chaparral High School’s very talented 6-foot-7, 205-pound junior forward Kai Fletcher. Fletcher impressed me with his play this spring, and has quickly become oneof the better 2017 prospects in the class. Chaparral High School is coming off a disappointing season in 2015-2016, but is absolutely loaded with talent for next season. In fact, Chaparral is one of my favorites next season to compete for the Division-I state title – becoming one of the most improved teams in the state. There are numerous players…
Desert Ridge High School’s 6-foot-5, 205-pound sophomore wing Timmy Allen is the state’s top overall prospect in Arizona’s 2018 class, and it is quickly becoming more and more evident as Allen has received some serious division-I offers recently. After recently receiving a couple more offers for himself, Allen has now received two more big PAC-12 offers from UCLA and USC. Recently, Allen received offers from Fresno State and Cal State Northridge. Allen also currently holds offers from Arizona State, Nebraska, New Mexico State, Portland State and Grand Canyon. Allen is coming off a tremendous sophomore season, although his high school…
