Our Arizona Preps’ staff completely covered the Tribal Athletics West Coast Desert Individual Showcase this weekend, for boys and girls, and were very impressed with the overall effort and passion the participants played with. Dream City Christian Prep gifted 6-foot-7 senior forward Arthur Kaluma signed a national letter gave a verbal commitment to UNLV this fall in surprising fashion, after being being recruited heavily by many high-major college programs across the country. Recently, UNLV made a coaching change, and now Kaluma is considering his options again for next fall. While he is still signed to a national letter of intent with UNLV, he could elect to do something different, if he chooses. Dream City Christian Prep’s talented 6-foot-3 senior point guard Jayden Nunn saw his college recruitment take off slowly, but then begin to soar this prep season, after he consistently performed at a high level on The Grind Session. While it took some time for the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) to figure out whether they would even have a basketball season, the organization eventually put a season together for the many high schools in the state to take part in. While the players wore masks during competition and most spectators were not permitted into the gymnasiums during the games, the AIA made it work and put together a season to remember. Tuesday evening around the state much of the state’s girl’s high school varsity teams were in action, as each of the Big School Divisions (3A through 6A) began their state playoffs. Arizona Preps was in attendance to watch #3 seed Xavier Prep take on #14 seed Tucson High School.
