Our Arizona Preps' staff completely covered the Tribal Athletics West Coast Desert Individual Showcase this weekend, for boys and girls, and were very impressed with the overall effort and passion the participants played with. Tournament Director Jon Yarrow put together a nice collection of prospects from the West with more than (80) boys participants in action.
Here are some of the top overall boys prospects from this weekend's event that I observed (In no particular order) . . .
Caleb Cole 6-6 SOPH PF Colstrip, MT - 2023 Class (pictured-left)
Long and rangy young 4-man prospect with good overall athleticism. Run the floor hard. A good finisher around the paint and in transition. Has upside. A good shooter with some range on his shot. Active. A good ball handler - can create his own shot. Active rebounder and shotblocker. Has a bright future. Best overall prospect at the event over time.
Khari Dunn 6-6 SR SF/PF Gilbert, AZ - 2021 Class
Dunn (pictured-right ) is a very good looking young man whose best years are ahead of him, as he is just beginning to realize his potential and grow into his body. He has good size and is fairly athletic. Is fundamentally sound. Solid rebounder. Solid defender. Good ball handler for his size. Good passer. Has a chance to develop into a serious college prospect with focused work ethic.
Andrew Yeahquo 6-8 SR San Tan Charter School - 2021 Class
This young man has excellent size and a nice overall skill level. He has the potential to really become a serious player over time, I would just like to see him become much more physical and tough to realize his true potential. Runs the floor very well and is a good finisher. Active but stands on the perimeter a little too much. Would like to see him more active around the low block. Capable shotblocker. Solid rebounder. A good shooter with range. A good passer. I love this young man's potential over time, just want to see him get a mean streak to maximize his production.
Brady Ramon 6-0 SR Tucson, AZ - 2021 Class
I really enjoyed watching this kid this weekend. A very skilled guard prospect with a good handle and a good overall skillet.
Jonah Holiday 6-4 SR Page, AZ - 2021 Class
Holiday is an intriguing prospect with good size for the guard position. A combo guard prospect that is at his best scoring the basketball from the off-guard position. A very good shooter with excellent range on his shot. Has a good overall skill level. A good ball handler and passer. A good facilitator. Has some upside. A good looking prospect.
Naha McBroom 6-1 SOPH SG/SF Broken Aarow, OK - 2023 Class
A very good looking young guard prospect with excellent physical strength and toughness. Has a good overall skill level and is fundamentally sound. Can score inside and out. Plays with a high level of confidence. A good shooter with range. Has a good handle of the basketball. Runs the floor. A good competitor with a game face on at all times. I like this young man's potential for the future.
Bryant Wells 6-4 FR White Sheild, ND - 2024 Class
A long, athletic young prospect with good potential for the future. Has a thin frame physically. and needs to add more size and strength over time to maximize his potential as a player. Runs the floor. Good finisher in transition. A very good passer that sees the floor. A very shooter but has limited range currently on his shot. A good ball handler. Solid defender.
Kelby Real Bird 6-3 SOPH Gilbert, AZ - 2023 Class
A young prospect with a strong physical frame. A good ball handler and finisher. Plays with wreckless abandon and does not mind physical contact. Strong in transition and the open floor. An active rebounder. An OK passer. A good shooter with range on his shot. Plays physical.
