Local prep power Hillcrest Prep has been on an absolute tear this off-season in reeling in top-rated elite national talent for their basketball program. Organizers Nick Weaver, Matt Allen and Head Coach Howard Thomas have significantly raised their level of talent at the dominant prep program over the last month, and are now introducing stud 6-foot-3, 160-pound rising sophomore guard Dior Johnson to the program.
Dior Johnson is flat out big time as a guard prospect - currently rated among the top overall players in America's 2022 Class and has many division-I offers already to go with it. A native of Kingston, New York, Johnson is an electric guard prospect with funk in his game, and superb handle of the basketball and a lot of , what I call, boogie in his repetoire. Johnson is set to take the West by storm, as he will be joining an ultra-loaded roster that includes some of the nation's elite overall prospects. Johnson will join two of the nation's elite 2020 prospects in Kyree Walker and Dalen Terry on a loaded roster and, of course, the nation's #1 2022 prospect Michael Foster, who also recently decided to move to Hillcrest.
Currently Johnson has offers from numerous top-rated college programs, including Arizona State, Georgia Tech, Memphis, LSU, Nebraska, St. John's, TCU, Alabama, DePaul, Buffalo, Hofstra, NJIT, Ole Miss, Western Kentucky, Stony Brook and Bryant College.
Johnson will have a big decision to make at some point in his young career, but he is merely entering his sophomore season, and already has enough division-I offers to fill up a page. Johnson is currently rated among the nation's Top 10 prospects in the 2022 Class, and will team up with Michael Foster for the next (3) seasons of prep school - a dynamic duo that will have college programs from all over the country scouring the Hillcrest Prep program to get an opportunity to land both or either one of the two recruits.
It will be an amazing opportunity to see such elite basketball talent this season playing right here in our backyard. Get your popcorn ready as prep basketball in Arizona continues to dominate the state, and will soon dominate the West.
