AZ Compass Prep, widely regarded as one of the premier prep basketball programs in the country, has made another significant addition to its already star-studded roster with the recent announcement that five-star prospect, 6-foot-10, 190-pound senior Zion Green will join the program for the 2026-27 season. Green, a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is considered one of the elite prospects in the 2027 National Recruiting Class. Currently ranked No. 32 overall nationally by ESPN, Green is regarded as one of the country’s top young talents, and will now compete for one of the nation’s most prestigious prep basketball programs.
The addition of Green gives AZ Compass Prep yet another elite prospect on a roster that was already considered among the most talented in America. Green joins a remarkable collection of Division-I talent that includes 6-foot-9 senior forward DeMarcus Henry, the nation’s No. 2 overall prospect in the 2027 class; Kyi Kyi Miles, one of the nation’s top junior point guard prospects; Kur Lual, a 6-foot-7 senior who was recently named MVP of the prestigious Pangos All-American Camp; Mustafa Mohamed, a 6-foot-10 senior who recently transferred to AZ Compass Prep; Precious Sam, a 6-foot-11 senior regarded as one of the top post prospects in the country; Darren Ford, an outstanding junior guard who recently transferred from Louisiana; among many other highly regarded prospects expected to compete for significant roles this season.
The addition of Green is a tremendous boost for an AZ Compass Prep program that was already viewed as one of the nation’s top teams. His combination of size, length, athleticism and versatility elevates the program to an even higher level and further strengthens the team’s pursuit of a Chipotle National Championship.
Green has already received scholarship offers from such high-major programs as Michigan, Kansas State, Maryland, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Seton Hall, Syracuse, Villanova, Wake Forest and Washington. While it remains unclear which programs currently lead in his recruitment, his move to AZ Compass Prep will undoubtedly bring even greater national exposure and should attract additional high-major programs as his recruitment continues to develop.

I had the opportunity to watch Zion Green compete up close for several days at this year’s Pangos All-American Camp and came away very impressed, as he was considered as one of the most talented prospects in the camp. Green displayed excellent versatility, consistently finished around the basket, and showed the ability to create scoring opportunities, because of his size, length and athleticism. His overall skillset is extremely advanced, and he has all the tools necessary to develop into one of the premier prospects in the country. Green has a very bright future ahead of him.
AZ Compass Prep Head Coach and Director Pete Kaffey will certainly have his hands full this season, as he works to establish roles and maximize the abundance of talent on his roster. Managing expectations and keeping everyone focused on the team’s ultimate goal will be a tremendous challenge, but one thing is certain, AZ Compass Prep has assembled one of the most talented prep basketball rosters the country has seen in recent years, and will enter the season as a legitimate favorite to compete for a Chipotle National Championship.
