One of the elite overall prospects in the 2023 Class nationally that most college scouts and media do not know about yet is Dream City Christian Prep's 6-foot-8, 215-pound junior wing David Tubek. A very well-put-together prospect physically and a very fundamentally sound performer, Tubek is a big-time national talent that many college programs have already jumped on, but will become one of the nation's top recruiting targets over time.
Upon first seeing Tubek on the basketball court this fall, I marveled at the fact that he is only a mere junior prospect. Like many other elite national prospects before him, Tubek stands out on the basketball court immediately due to his physicality and size. Once you see his ability to shoot the basketball and play the game, he becomes even much more intriguing. This young man is a true talent and has the potential to play the game at a high level, and for a very long time.
Tubek is a major bright spot this prep season for a loaded Dream City team that is one of the elite prep programs in America. While AZ Compass Prep has received all of the headlines nationally early in the prep season, Dream City proved just how good they are and proved what I have been saying for some time now last weekend, in a narrow loss to Compass Prep on Compass' home floor - losing a nail-biter contest to Compass, 69-68. While the Dream City ballclub is absolutely loaded with Division-I prospects again this season, Tubek is at the top of their list of high-major Division-I recruiting targets.
To his credit, Tubek has already received (12) different Division-I offers for himself from Kansas, Texas, West Virginia, Arizona State, Creighton, Xavier, UNLV, Oakland, Eastern Michigan, Robert Morris, Akron and Youngstown State. Many more schools and offers will soon pour in as more college programs see him in person, and lay eyes on this superb physical talent. I expect Dubek to become one of the most sought after recruiting targets nationally over time.
Dubek has excellent physical size at 6-8 in height and is a very versatile performer - able to score inside and out. Don't let his size fool you though, as he is a big wing prospect with a pure shooting stroke and excellent range on his shot. He has a quick release on his shot, and is able to get his shot off nicely from longer ranges and with consistency. A pure shooter of the basketball. Dubek is actually one of the very best shooters in the 2023 Class. He is also an excellent athlete with a terrific physical makeup. He has a high-major college-ready body and excellent physical strength for a young man. He is fundamentally sound and has a very good handle of the basketball and is also a good passer that looks to find the open man on the floor, and is very coachable. A strong rebounder that has good work ethic and competes. A good defender that plays passing lanes. Continued focus defensively on the ball will maximize his potential as a player.
Dubek is an elite-level talent that should have a tremendous season on the Grind Session and open a lot of eyes with his unique talents and body. This young man will soon become a household name among college programs nationally.
