Since joining the Hillcrest Prep program recently, 6-foot-11, 250-pound senior post Antwan January has received loads of recruiting attention - receiving numerous scholarship offers for himself. This week, during the early signing period, January chose to sign with a storied program from the Big-10 Conference.
While possessing offers from Florida State, Texas Tech, Fresno State, TCU, New Mexico, Nevada, Washington State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Kansas State and Boise State, January decided to sign a national letter of intent with the University of Illinois and their basketball staff.
January recently transferred from Santa Monica High School in Los Angeles, CA, and saw his college recruitment immediately take off after joining the Hillcrest Prep program.
January is a load physically and is one of the top post prospects in the country, as a result of his sheer size and mobility as a player. He will add some serious size and toughness to any college program, as he is one of the bigger and more talented post prospects in the country. January is a force in the paint and has a strong ability to score in the post, while also being dominant on the glass. Very few high school prospects have his combination of size and strength, which makes him a valuable commodity among college coaches.
