Dream City Christian Prep's gifted 6-foot-11, 210-pound junior post Birima Seck (University of New Mexico commit) ranked among the elite overall prospects in Arizona's 2022 Class. While the class is absolutely loaded with talented prospects for college programs, Seck has decided to skip his senior season and become a member of the nation's 2021 Class. Seck made his decision this week after he gave a big verbal commitment to the University of New Mexico and new Head Coach Richard Pitino and his basketball staff.
Seck ranked among our elite overall prospects in Arizona's 2022 Class, before deciding to make the jump early to the collegiate ranks. As a 2021 prospect, Seck is still a tremendous signing by a college program, as he is a long, athletic post talent that runs the floor and has extreme upside. He is still growing a great deal, and will really develop with a strength and conditioning program that will allow him to add serious size and strength to his very thin frame.
Seck chose New Mexico, which could be an excellent fit for him, over offers from Kansas, Texas Tech, Arizona State and South Florida. He felt like New Mexico was the best fit for him and his playing style.
Seck is a rare find among post prospects, as he is humble, works hard and has tremendous upside as a player. He is very mobile and runs the floor like a guard. He enjoys passing the basketball from the low post or the high post to open teammates, and he also possesses a very good skill level that allows him to score inside and out on the offensive end. Still a little raw offensively, he does have a good overall skillset that is really developing. He also is lengthy and has the ability to block and change shots. He has a good overall motor, one of his best attributes. His best years are well ahead of him.
Congratulations to Seck on his big decision from our Arizona Preps' staff, and also congratulations to the Dream City Christian Prep basketball program and their coaching staff.
