One prospect that caught my attention this off-season with his play is Valley Vista High School’s talented 6-foot-5, 190-pound senior forward Dwayne Jones. A very unheralded prospect, Jones held his own against some of the state’s top opposition all spring and summer, and, I believe, will have a big senior season – a breakout season for Jones and the Valley Vista basketball program. We have already spoken about the potential season for Valley Vista in 2023, as Jones will team up again with sharp-shooting 6-foot-2 senior guard Aadem Isai to create one of the state’s top one-two punches this high…

One of the most underrated prospects in the state is set to have a big senior season. Valley Vista High School’s 6-foot-2, 185-pound senior guard prospect Aadem Isai is coming off a strong junior season for himself, and is regarded by our staff as one of the top guard prospects in Arizona’s 2023 Class. I absolutely love this young man’s ability to play the game, and believe he is among the top offensive performers in the state, regardless of class. While he does not currently have the recruitment to go with his unique ability to play the game, Isai is…

Perry High School’s 6-foot-8, 175-pound senior guard Cody Williams finished the 2022 high school basketball season as a local star, but now he has returned from the spring and summer as a national star. After leading Perry High School to this year’s 6A State Championship, Williams went into the spring ranked as the #51 player nationally by ESPN. After a strong spring and summer performance while traveling with Vegas Elite (NV) on the EYBL Nike-circuit, Williams returned as the #14 ranked prospect nationally by ESPN, and a lock now to become a 2023 McDonald’s All-American. Williams has built a tremendous…

This weekend in major national recruiting news, Hillcrest Prep’s star 6-foot-9, 185-pound junior forward Jason Asemota decided to end his college recruitment – giving a big verbal commitment to Baylor University, the 2021 NCAA National Champions. Asemota, the #22 overall prospect in America’s 2024 Class by ESPN, has been one of the hottest 2024 prospects in America for some time, as he received loads of Division-I offers over the past two years. This weekend, Asemota decided to end his college recruitment in surprising fashion – a decision that made national headlines on ESPN. Asemota’s decision to commit to Baylor and…

One of the elite overall prospects in America’s 2024 Class now resides at national prep basketball power AZ Compass Prep in Chandler, Arizona. The AZ Compass Prep program consistently sports an amazing roster annually, so it is always impressive to see who will land annually at the heavily Nike-sponsored basketball program. This time around and during the summer, the program announced the new and big addition of 6-foot-5, 185-pound junior guard Vyctorius Miller. A native of North Hollywood, CA, where he played for Crean Lutheran High School (CA), the addition of Miller to this year’s AZ Compass Prep program was…

One of my favorite prospects is set to have a breakout season in the Arizona Commmunity College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) this junior college season. Scottsdale Junior College will be very talented this season and will look to repeat as Division-II Champions. Head Coach Mark Bunker has retooled for the up-and-coming season, and his team’s success will benefit a great deal from the overall play of 6-foot-3, 190-pound sophomore guard Isaiah Floyd. Floyd had a nice freshman campaign for Scottsdale, and I expect him to do big things this sophomore season. Last season, as the season began, it seemed that Head…

It is time to get back going for Skyline High School 2020 graduate Dayton Harris. After signing with Northern Arizona University in high school, things did not work out for Harris and he decided to leave the NAU team – landing at Southern Nevada Junior College (NV) last season. After a season in Nevada, now Harris has decided to pick up his career at Yavapai Junior College, where he will play for new Head Coach Jay Joyner, and look to help the Yavapai program get back to their winning ways, after an 11-year absence from the sport. Harris and the…

One of the top overall prospects in the state has been preparing for this all of his young life – to play basketball at the highest level. Over the past two seasons, St. Mary’s High School’s gifted 6-foot-2 rising junior point guard prospect Styles Phipps has made a major name for himself through playing at a high level and being so young. Now entering his junior season, Phipps will be asked to lead a St. Mary’s basketball program that has lost some key players from last year’s team to graduation and to transfers. This is only setting up Phipps to…

St. Mary’s High School will look a lot different next high school season, after the recent loss of more players from their starting roster. While Head Coach Damin Lopez and his Knights’ program were looked to be building a strong basketball dynasty several years ago, now the Knights’ coaching staff is looking to simply build a strong team for the season. After losing star guard Jason Fontenet to a transfer last season, now the St. Mary’s program has lost the services of 6-foot-7 senior forward Seydou Tamboura. Recently, Tamboura decided to leave St. Mary’s and now has landed at PHH…
