Prescott High School is coming off a strong season, where they finished with an impressive 21-4 overall record in the state’s 4A Division. While the program was terrific this season, the future looks much brighter for the program, as a result of the nice development of 6-foot-10 sophomore post Zane Gaul. Gaul is coming off his best high school season as a sophomore, which was a nice improvement from his freshman season. His future is very bright and I look for Gaul to develop into one of the state’s top overall prospects as a junior. Rarely does the state have…

One of the top overall prospects in Arizona’s 2025 Class of sophomore prospects is Prescott High School’s 5-foot-10 sophomore guard Uriah Tenette. Tenette has had two impressive high school seasons already, and, while only a mere sophomore, continues to rise to another level in his play. Tenette is prepared to take Prescott basketball to another level in his next two high school seasons, while becoming one of the top guard prospects in the state. Recently, I had the opportunity of watching Tenette up close against many of the top-rated prospects from Northern Arizona in the Arizona Preps Northern Arizona Showcase,…
Another Arizona product that will considering his college options for next college season is former Valley Vista High School standout performer Elijah Thomas. One of the top overall prospects in Arizona’s 2022 Class, Thomas made his decision last summer to go the junior college route, where he spent a full season at Des Moines Area Community College in Iowa, and was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI All-Region Team, announced by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC). Thomas, a 6-foot-6 freshman this season, played in (27) games and was named as a starter in…
One Arizona product is now a prospect for the 203 Class, after former 2022 Class product of Arizona’s Brophy Prep program, 6-foot-8 prep forward Trey Phillips, spent a post-graduate season at The Winchendon School in Massachusetts. For a full season, Phillips played against some of the top basketball talent in the Northeast region of the United States, and has worked hard to develop his overall game for the collegiate level, in preparation for this spring. Phillips has received serious recruiting interest as a result, and is looking forward to making a college decision this spring or early summer. Phillips had…
While regarded as one of the top overall prospects in Arizona’s 2024 Class already, Eduprize Prep’s gifted 6-foot-3 guard prospect AJ Thomas has decided to change classes – reclassifying to America’s 2025 Class. Thomas made the announcement this week to reclassify – a move that will make him now one of the elite overall prospects in the West. Thomas led the state’s Canyon Athletic Association (CAA) Division in scoring last high school season – posting amazing numbers as a sophomore. Thomas returned for his junior season, a season which he will now repeat, while playing for his father, Head Coach Ashton Thomas, and…
Scottsdale Junior College (25-7, 15-7) has been on fire since hiring Head Coach Mark Bunker almost (10) years ago, as Bunker has taken the program back to previous levels before him, when the program consistently won Division-II titles consistently. The program ha ow won back-2-back Region Championships in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC), after defeating #1 seed Pima Junior College on Friday evening in the Region Championship game, held at Pima Junior College, 90-69. Scottsdale also defeated #3 seed Chandler-Gilbert Junior College last week in the semi-finals, 68-54, to advance to the championship game. Scottsdale’s Division-II Region Championship…
There are numerous top-rated prospects still available this spring from the 2023 Class of senior prospects in the state, and one member of the class has flown well below the recruiting radar. Sunrise Mountain High School’s 6-foot-6 senior forward Carter Gittens is one prospect in the state that is well deserving of serious college recruitment. Gittens is coming off another very strong season for himself, and now will head into the spring evaluation period looking to make a college decision. Gittens did all he could this season to lead a very talented Sunrise Mountain team, and would fall just short…
One of the top prospects in the Arizona Community College Athletic Association (ACCAC) is now off the recruiting board. Eastern Arizona’s talented 6-foot-9 sophomore forward Theo Seng has been regarded as one of our top sophomore (2023 Class) prospects in the conference all season, and now he is off the recruiting board after giving a verbal commitment to a program in the Sun Belt Conference. Send, a native of Davis, California, and a transfer from Sacramento State, has decided that he will play next season for Troy University and Head Coach Scott Cross and his men’s basketball staff. Troy State…
It is a very usual occurrence annually in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC), as Cochise College (29-3, 22-0) and Arizona Western Junior College (26-6, 17-5) face one another for the right to be known as the Conference Champion. It seems like each season these two top-rated programs meet one another at the end of the year for the right to represent Region 1 and win the ACCAC Conference Championship. While, at one time over the years, other Division-I programs in the conference competed with these two juggernauts, Cochise and Arizona Western have dominated the conference for many years,…
It was the final game of a long day and also for the 2022-2023 high school basketball season – the first ever Open Division State Championship, as #1 seed Perry High School (30-1) would face #10 seed Sunnyslope High School (25-6). Perry would be looking to repeat as back-to-back state champions, while Sunnyslope came into Saturday evening’s contest looking to overthrow Goliath, as the Perry team is as talented a high school team as we have ever seen in the state of Arizona – currently ranked among the nation’s Top 20 high school programs by Max Preps. Perry is led…
