One of the top prospects in the state of Arizona for some time, was 6-foot-2 junior guard Adam Njie. Njie played for Eduprize Prep and Hillcrest Prep, before moving back to the state of New York for his junior season, where he played for Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, New York. Regarded as one of the top guard prospects in the country, Njie announced his decision Saturday over social media to commit to Washington State University and Head Coach Kyle Smith and his men’s basketball staff. It is still very early in the college recruiting process for Scottsdale Christian Academy’s 6-foot-7 freshman Elijah Williams and Millennium High School’s 6-foot-6 freshman Cameron Holmes, but both prospects are receiving rave national recruiting attention already. Both members of the AZ Unity 16U Nike-sponsored EYBL team this spring and summer, both elite young prospects have both now received a scholarship offer from the University of Arizona and Head Coach Tommy Lloyd and his men’s basketball staff. The exciting Nike EYBL Session II was held in the state of Arizona this weekend @ the Legacy Sports Complex in the East Valley for the first time in Arizona basketball history. This high-powered event brought loads of Nike-sponsored programs and players to the valley this weekend, which attracted a large numbers of college basketball coaches and national scouts and media. I was able to catch a lot of the action this weekend and was ultimately surprised with how many top-rated Arizona prospects were in participation over the weekend on local and out-of-state club programs, and at several different age…

In amazing fashion on Tuesday afternoon, Perry High School’s athletic 6-foot-3 unsigned senior guard Ben Egbo announced his commitment to the UC-Irvine basketball program – a huge opportunity for Egbo who waited for a very long time for this offer. After years of hard work and waiting for his share of college recruitment, it all worked out in a major way for Egbo in the end, as he will now play his college basketball in the Big West Conference. It is now official as former Scottsdale Junior College Head Coach Mark Bunker, after winning two consecutive ACCAC Division-II Conference titles, has decided to accept the Head Coaching position at Western New Mexico University. While I have known this for some time, it has now been announced officially by the Western New Mexico basketball program. In (9) seasons as the Head Coach @ Scottsdale CC, Bunker produced a 136-114 record. For the first time in Arizona basketball history, the prestigious and exciting Nike EYBL event will take place in the state of Arizona, as Nike-sponsored AAU/club programs from all over the world will venture to the state of Arizona this weekend @ the Legacy Sports Complex (located @ 6321 S Ellsworth Rd, Mesa, AZ 85212) from April 28-30, 2023.
