The Bradshaw Mountain varsity basketball program is coming off a strong season, after the program finished with a 24-5 overall record on the season. The program would fall to eventual 4A State Champion Peoria High School in the state playoffs, but is looking to stay consistent in their winning ways next high school season. If Bradshaw Mountain is to build on last season's success, then they will need to rely heavily on the play of 6-foot-6 rising senior guard Mason Hunt. Hunt is a very talented prospect and will need to put it all together in his final senior season, a big one for him.
Hunt is one of my top overall prospects in Arizona's very talented 2024 Class, as he is a very gifted prospect with size, athleticism and a very versatile offensive skillset. I have watched him develop over the past several years and have been impressed with his potential since I first saw him as a freshman. His time is now to go to the next level in his play and become a force on the basketball court - realizing his potential as a player, which will ultimately benefit him a great deal in his future college recruitment.
Currently Hunt does not possess any Division-I offers to his credit, although many smaller schools have shown strong interest in him early. Hunt is a Division-I talent and so a big senior season for him will only aid him in that pursuit, to play Division-I basketball. I look for him to have a big senior season, as he will be relied on heavily to score the basketball. Bradshaw Mountain High School Head Coach Cain Atkinson will design his team's offense around Hunt next season, as his team lost a lot to graduation from last year's state playoff team.
Hunt averaged 13.3 points, 2.5 assists and 5 rebounds per/game last season on a very talented team, although I believe Hunt should have put up better numbers, based on his level of talent. A very focused Hunt next season will make the difference, as he is working very hard currently to improve himself for next year and a college future.
Hunt is one of my top sleeper prospects in the 2024 Class. While many other prospects in the class are currently receiving much more and higher recruitment than Hunt, I believe this young man has the potential and skillset to have a nice college career for himself.
Hunt has good size now and is still growing physically, so he has upside. He has a good overall skill level and is fundamentally sound as a player. He is a good shooter with range on his shot, and has grown to become very consistent from longer ranges. He is a strong driver of the basketball and finisher, and will only continue to get better in this area of his game as he matures physically. He is athletic now and will become much more of an athletic finisher as he matures as well. He has a solid mid-range game, but I would like to see him continue to develop in that area, to see his game game to the next level. Hunt has good versatility as a ball handler and can create his own shot. He is also a good passer of the ball. He is a strong rebounder also and will only get better in this area of his game. He is a solid defender, but I would like to see him focus on this area of his game as well, to maximize his potential as a player. He has the potential to become a much better one-on-one defender against quicker perimeter players with hard work.
I will continue to watch Mason Hunt and the Bradshaw Mountain basketball program closely over the next year, and look forward to a big senior season from Mason Hunt.
