The Team Power Basketball Academy is in their first year of operation, and they have become a major player in the club basketball business almost overnight. Sporting almost 20 different teams at different age groups, Team Power has started off the spring season with a bang, and this weekend the program saw it’s very talented Arizona Power Black 16U group fall to the Utah Pump N’ Run (UT) in the championship game of this year’s Double Pump Spring Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada. Also runner-up finishers of the 16 & Under Division in last weekend’s Double Pump Hoop Fest in Los Angeles, CA, the 16 & under group…

The recruitment of Independence High School’s 6-foot-7, 195-pound senior forward Jonathan Wilson has officially ended and will soon begin again, as Wilson has landed at a junior college program and will now look to improve his college recruitment in the future. In an attempt to reach his personal goal of playing division-I basketball, Wilson has decided to pass on several division-II scholarship offers for himself, and will instead head the junior college route in an attempt to earn a division-I scholarship in the future. Last week, after careful consideration, Wilson gave a verbal commitment to attend Williston State Junior College in North Dakota,…
Saguaro High School’s sharp-shooting 185-pound unsigned senior combo-guard Ryan Berg has become a very hot target among unsigned senior prospects in the state. The much improved and hard-to-guard guard prospect has flat out put on a shooting exhibition this spring, and, as a result, has seen his college recruitment begin to take off. Berg is as much improved a player as I have seen in recent years, as he went from simply a pure shooter of the basketball, to now being almost unguardable with the basketball in his hands. Berg’s quickness off the dribble, ball handling prowess, court vision and ability…
This last weekend kicked off the start of which looks to be a very talent laden West Coast club basketball season. While the Nike EYBL and Double Pump Hoop Fest opened up in Los Angeles, California, I happened to watch a majority of the top kids on the West Coast and beyond in fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada at the Pangos Spring Spectacular hosted by Dino Trigonis and Bishop Gorman High School, and other locations. I was shocked at how high of a level these kids were playing at so early in the club season. Of the talented kids I personally watched, here are my…
Perry High School’s talented 5-foot-10 rising junior pure-point guard prospect Jordan Howard is a soaring talent that burst onto the high school basketball scene during his sophomore season. While Jordan and his family are very well-known in basketball circles around the state of Arizona, this version of the Howard family took his game to another level in his sophomore season. As a junior, Howard continued his terrific play and blew up within the state of Arizona – averaging an eye-popping 25.6 points per/game and being selected among the 2013 Arizona Preps All-Arizona Team and also as our runner-up for our Arizona Preps…
After a strong performance last weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he led his Arizona Stars club program to the semi-finals of the Pangos Spring Spectacular, Millennium High School’s gifted 6-foot-1 senior guard Jordan Martin is now generating very serious division-I interest in himself late. In the event, the Stars lost to eventual tournament champion, Belmont Shore (CA),by a mere two points, after a game-winning three-pointer bounced off the rim. Jordan Martin came up very big for the Stars in the tournament and also down the stretch of the tourney. Martin scored the basketball effectively against stiff competition and played with excellent energy and…
Westwind Prep’s skilled 6-foot-4, 210-pound senior guard Josh Braun recovered nicely from a knee injury that he suffered last spring – an injury that caused him to miss the remainder of the spring and also the summer evaluation period. But soon after returning to action, less than 3 months later, Braun saw an injury to his other knee, and another torn ACL injury. As a result, Braun is now recovering once again – hoping to return to action after a freshman year of recovery. With Braun’s college recruitment hanging in the balance as a result of the injury, the gifted senior shooting…
Scottsdale Saguaro High School’s sharp-shooting 5-foot-11, 165-pound senior point guard prospect Mike Hauser is coming off an excellent season for himself. The heady, fundamentally sound point man had his best season as a senior – averaging 16.5 points, 5.5 assists and 3.7 rebounds per/game. As a result, Hauser saw his college recruitment take off this season. Hauser picked up offers from Peru State, Concordia University (CA) and Arizona Christian University and also received strong interest from such schools as Chico State and Point Loma University. This week, after giving careful consideration to each program, Hauser decided to sign a scholarship with Concordia University, one…
When I first laid eyes on this year’s version of the Arizona Magic Pump N’ Run-2014 group of junior prospects at the recent Southwest Showcase Main Event, organized by Ron Coleman, I wondered just how competitive this group would be this spring and summer. Sporting very little size and marginal athleticism as a team, on paper, this group did not look like much to look at. In the Southwest Showcase Main Event, the team would be led by the superb play of Westwind Prep star 6-foot-8 junior guard/forward Zylan Cheatham and 6-foot-3 junior guard Tate De Laveaga (Northern Arizona commit), and also…
Arizona Preps began our coverage of the April evaluation period this weekend with a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada, where we were able to catch much of the action from day two of this year’s exciting Pangos Spring Spectacular event – held at Bishop Gorman High School. While we were following each of the Arizona teams in the event, and since there are only a few Arizona teams participating (with the majority of Arizona teams competing in the Double Pump Hoop Fest in LA) in this weekend’s event, it made for an easy day of coverage for our staff. We were able…
