One of the better prospects in Arizona’s 2016 class of girls prospects is 5-foot-10 senior wing Alexis “AC” Contreras. After playing her first three years of high school basketball at Valley Vista High School, Contreras will transfer next season to play for Millennium High School. Contreras is one of the state’s best shooters of the basketball and a very nice looking prospect among the state’s 2016 class. While a player for passionate head coach Rachel Matakas, Contreras developed nicely as a player and helped the team to numerous big wins. She helped the team as a sophomore go deep into…

This week will begin an exciting week in Las Vegas, Nevada, as more than 1,000 different club teams and programs travel to Las Vegas to take part in several different AAU/club exposure events. Teams will be venturing to Vegas from all over the world to play in either the Fab 48, Bigfoot Hoops or Adidas Uprising tournaments. There are also other events for younger prospects being held in the state of Nevada this week as well. Our Arizona Preps staff will be spending time at each of these three events this week, but will focus our attention on Hal Pastner’s…
It has been a long, hard road for one of the state’s top rated prospects. After blowing up to a Top-30 national ranking after his sophomore season, 6-foot-9 prep post Andre Adams realized that his academic struggles would come into play at some point. As a result, Adams began to generate loads of college recruiting interest from many college programs across the country. With Adams needing to get it done a great deal in the classroom to even have a chance to qualify academically for the future, Adams began to work tirelessly in the classroom to improve his academic situation.…
It has been an amazing story for IMG Academy 6-foot-9 prep post prospect Andre Adams. The top unsigned prospect from Arizona’s loaded 2014 class while a senior at Avondale’s Westview High School, Adams traveled to IMG Academy in Florida for a year to improve his academic situation. After some serious hardwood and academic focus, Adams got it done and became a full NCAA academic qualifier two weeks ago. With many college programs in hot pursuit of Adams, today he decided that he knew where he wanted to go, and decided to pull the trigger with the Arizona State Sun Devils – giving a…
Arizona’s 2017 class of prospects is very good and will be another amazing class of prospects for college programs to take a hard look at. This spring and summer, many of Arizona’s top prospects from the class have been terrific on the club circuit – winning numerous exposure events and keeping Arizona on the basketball map. This weekend, a group of talented 2017 prospects from the Arizona Power organization, the Arizona Power Black 16U, won this year’s Double Pump Best of Summer event behind some talented performers. Led by the play of 6-foot junior guard Colten Kresl, 6-foot-6 junior wing…
The wait is finally over for Shadow Mountain High School’s 6-foot-4, 165-pound recent graduated senior guard prospect Craig Randall. No available prospect received more recruiting interest in the state this season than Randall, and after waiting for some time to pull the trigger, Randall has made his decision – giving a verbal commitment to Memphis University and head coach Josh Pastner this weekend. Randall finally chose Memphis over scholarship offers this year from St. John’s, Minnesota, New Mexico State, La Salle, UC-Davis, Louisiana Tech, Portland State, Florida International and UNCW. He also received strong interest from Cal, Georgia Tech, Missouri, Wisconsin, Wake Forest, Saint Louis, Ole…

Tucson Rincon High School’s 6-foot-11, 220-pound rising senior post Brendan Rumel was one of my clear favorite surprise performers of the spring, and he has continued his strong play this summer – leading his Arizona Power Tucson club team in the Double Pump Best of Summer tournament in Anaheim, CA. With numerous low to mid-major college programs following Rumel around in the event, he recently received a scholarship offer from Portland State University. This afternoon, Rumel decided to end his college recruitment early – pulling the trigger with the Big Sky program. Rumel is a true post talent with excellent…
Vista Grande High School is not widely known for producing top-rated basketball talent in the state, but 5-foot-11 rising junior guard Jeovany Cruz is quickly trying to change that. This young guard prospect is working extremely hard on his craft daily to perfect his fundamentals in preparation for a big junior season for himself. I became very familiar with Cruz in our Arizona Preps Recruiting Academy recently, and was extremely impressed at his tremendous work ethic. Cruz was the hardest worker at the camp by far and was almost perfect in his approach to the game. He has tremendous work…
While Arizona seems to be loaded these days with developing college prospects that are gaining serious attention with college coaches, two young Arizona prospects stand above the rest of the pack. Both are high school teammates and had amazing success together this high school season, but have chosen different paths this spring and summer. Corona Del Sol’s 6-foot-11 rising sophomore post Marvin Bagley and 6-foot-1 rising junior guard Alex Barcello are making serious noise nationally, as they travel the country and participate in some of the country’s biggest exposure events of the club season. No prospect in the country, at…
