Basha High School's talented and promising 6-foot-5, 195-pound junior forward Gabe McGlothan made a nice splash this club seasong - leading his club team to several big tournament championships on the club circuit. As a result, the gifted 2017 prospect has received serious division-I interest as of late.
Currently with two scholarship offers on the table for himself, this week McGlothan would receive another scholarship offer from Montana State and head coach Brian Fish and his staff. McGlothan also holds offers already from Grand Canyon University and also the Big Sky Conference's Northern Colorado.
McGlothan has not indicated that he will give an early verbal commitment, so this looks to be just the beginning for McGlothan. After a strong performance this club season, McGlothan looks ready to have a big junior season for himself, after emerging last season as a sophomore.
McGlothan quickly emerged this club season as one of the elite prospects in the 2017 class. After leading his club program, Arizona D1 Nation 16U, to consecutive Double Pump tournament championships in the 16U Division this spring (won 3-consecutive tournament championships), McGlothan became a very hot prospect in the group of talented 2017 performers.
McGlothan is a sure-fire talent with loads of potential for the future. Still a young prospect, he is a very gifted athlete with excellent size and a nice overall skill level. He plays the game with passion and is capable of making plays most players in the state, regardless of class, cannot make. College coaches currently see him as an undersized four-man, so he will need to continue to improve his ball handling and shooting from the perimeter to prove himself as a wing prospect for the future.
McGlothan has the potential to become a very serious prospect in a talented 2017 class. I will continue to follow his recruitment closely, and bring you any updates as they continue to develop.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: McGlothan is a big-time young talent with an excellent body already and strong athleticism. He is a superb talent that has the motor and activity to make plays that most players his size cannot - a very nice attribute. McGlothan is an excellent looking prospect with a solid overall skill level, and an ability to play inside and out, although he still needs to add consistency to his jump shot. He plays above the rim. He also has a very good feel for the game and it is obvious that this young man plays often and works on his craft. An active rebounder and a good shotblocker. Runs the floor hard. Excellent finisher in traffic. Has the potential to become one of the elite prospects in Arizona's 2017 class, and, with continued hard work, could become one of the better prospects in the West.
