The Arizona Preps Spring Classic took place on Sunday @ Rancho Solano Prep Academy in North Scottsdale, and featured the state’s top club programs and many of the state’s top players. Since re-opening up his college recruitment recently, Shadow Mountain High School 2017 graduate, 6-foot-1 senior point guard Marcus Shaver has seen his college reruitment begin to soar. This weekend, while every other Arizona club program was taking part in a local event, the Powerhouse Hoops 17U Black team jumped on a plane and traveled to Chicago, Illinois to take part in the Baylor All-Star Classic. The team would not only fair well in the event, they would win it all after a last second shot from Saguaro’s 6-foot-5 junior wing Jared Martin in the championship game. This weekend’s always exciting Southwest Showcase Main Event, organized by valley basketball aficionado Ron Coleman, did not disappoint, as much of the state’s top basketball talent got together on their respective club teams to face off. The wait is finally over for one of the most talented wing prospects in the West. After helping Hillcrest Prep win a national championship this high school season, 6-foot-6 senior wing Alfred Hollins has found a college home. The gifted performer has given a verbal commitment to a program in the PAC-12 Conference.
