The All-American Available Showcase took place this weekend on Saturday @ Chandler-Gilbert Community College. The All-American staff, led by former Division-I assistant coach Cody Hopkins as the camp organizer, hosted an event designed to create exposure for unsigned junior college prospects, as well as any unsigned seniors. The event was primarily filled with unsigned juco prospects, which made for some exciting basketball action on the day, as participants played in (3) games each - providing an excellent opportunity for prospects to be evaluated. I was on hand for the day's action all day, and came away impressed with numerous prospects in the event, that proved they would each be good prospects for four-year colleges and junior colleges looking to fill their rosters for next season.
Throughout the day, there were numerous prospects in the event that I was impressed with. Here are the top overall prospects that I witnessed on the day . . .
Jason Parent 6-4 FR SG Yavapai College (Prescott, Arizona) - 2025 Class
Parent had a coming-out-party for himself on the day, as he had the best individual performance in the event. Parent had numerous monster dunks over defenders and off rebounded tip-dunks on the day, as he displayed NBA-level athleticism. While he does not look anything like what he possesses in athleticism, Parent plays much bigger than his size suggests, as he is very strong physically and gets off the ground quickly and with serious elevation. Parent was the talk of the event, as he also consistently made shots from long three-point distances in the event, and also finished very strong at the rim. An excellent addition to the Yavapai program for next fall, and is eligible for college recruitment immediately. Received strong interest from numerous four-year college coaches in attendance on the day, including Western Washington Head Coach Tony Dominguez. Will be a highly sought after prospect over time by different levels of college programs. A previous red-shirt freshman from NAU during the 2022-2023 season.
Logan Schayes 6-8 FR PF Beacon College (FL) - College Transfer
Schayes is a mystery man of sorts, after he played a season for Beacon College this past year and put up tremendous numbers, although the majority of games for his college did not count last season, so his averages are almost unknown. Regardless, Schayes is a superb transfer prospect for another college program, whether a juco or a low to mid-major Division-I or top-rated Division-II program. Shayes is a very tough and physical prospect that is clear in what he brings to the table for the college program that fits him best. Schayes is a true professional on the basketball court and he is focused on his craft. A very hard worker with a high basketball IQ and an advanced offensive skillset. He can score inside and out and also with either hand around the basket. Has interest now from Florida Atlantic and numerous juco programs for his services next season.
Cyrus Huggard 6-7 SOPH SF/PF Highland CC (IL) - 2024 Class
One of the top overall performers and prospects from the event. A very well built and put together prospect physically. Raised eyebrows of many in attendance with his body and ability to make plays in the event. Showed a very good handle for his size and an ability to create scoring opportunities for himself off the dribble for his size. He also made perimeter shots from three-point distance, proving he can score inside and out. Has good versatility offensively. An active rebounder. A good low post defender that can guard 4's and 5's. Runs the floor well and is a good finisher in transition. A very good looking sleeper prospect that can play immediately.
Tyler Johnson 6-5 SOPH SG/SF Highland CC (IL) - 2024 Class
Johnson is another very talented prospect that really helped himself with his performance on the day. Showcased his versatility and advanced overall skillset, which allows him to score and also distribute the basketball at a high rate. A very good looking talent that can handle the ball and make plays for himself and others almost at will. Has a nice skillset that allows him to play as a big guard. Can defend several positions on the floor. A good shooter with range. Can score inside and outside and posts up opposing guards. Has excellent versatility and can really help a team operate effectively in the half court set. I really like this prospect and he is an excellent sleeper guard prospect for the right college program. A Division-I level talent.
Kieran Carr 6-4 SOPH SG/SF Yavapai College - 2024 Class
Carr is a very underrated and unheralded prospect who is an excellent sleeper prospect for the right college home looking for versatility. This young man is a nice asset to any team, as he plays very unselfish and has an excellent handle of the basketball to go with a college-ready body. He also plays with wreckless abandon and relishes physical contact. Competes hard and plays with a purpose. Has an interesting release on his shot, but he still makes shots with range, although he is at his best from mid-range, where he is able to get to where he wants on the floor. A very strong rebounder. Can defend several positions on the floor. A very good sleeper prospect that can provide help immediately for the right college fit.
Khari Dunn 6-8 FR PF Chandler-Gilbert CC - 2025 Class (Academic Qualifier)
Dunn is a nice looking prospect and each time I see him perform, he leaves a lasting impression. A prospect on the rise for sure and has the potential to become one of the top overall prospects in the ACCAC next season. A strong and athletic 4-man that rebounds hard and is a good finisher around the basket. Able to stretch the floor also and make shots out to three-point distance. Takes high percentage shots in the offense and converts at a good rate. An active rebounder. A good shot-blocker. A strong finisher around the basket with good footwork. Has upside. One of the top returning prospects in the conference next season.
Dylan Swillis 6-5 FR SF Pasadena City College (CA) - 2024 Class (Academic Qualifier)
Swillis is an intriguing prospect with good length and height - a rangy performer that gets a lot done. A very good finisher in the open floor and a slasher in the half-court set. Runs the floor hard and is a mis-match for opposing front-court players, as he is quick for his size. A good mid-range shooter and scorer. Has some range on his shot, but needs consistency from longer ranges. Rebounds outside of his area, as a result of his length and timing. A good defender that plays passing lanes and can defend multiple positions. A good sleeper prospect that was an academic qualifier out of high school, and is ready to go now to a four-year college.
Charles Temple 6-3 SOPH SG Scottsdale CC - 2024 Class
A very strong and well-built physical specimen that competes hard on both ends of the floor and plays bigger than his size suggests. A do-it-all performer that rebounds, defends and can score in transition and as a slasher and finisher. Does not have a true position on the floor, but is rather a utility player or glue guy for a team. I really like what he brings to a team in his versatility. A capable three-point shooter with range on his shot, but still needs to become more consistent from longer ranges. Has a good mid-range game. A good sleeper prospect for a good Division-II program.
Monem Abboud 6-0 SOPH PG/SG Highland CC (IL) - 2024 Class
A big-time shooter and a specialist for any one looking for elite shooting. Hit (7) three-pointers in one of the games on Saturday. Has a strong physical frame for his size and good level of maturity as a player. Plays with poise. Fundamentally sound. A good ball handler that is capable of playing both guard positions on the floor. Has good toughness. A good passer that advances with the pass. A good sleeper guard prospect.
Connor Miller 6-3 SOPH PG/SG Victoria College (TX) - 2024 Class
Miller is a sharp-shooting guard prospect with a very good feel for the game and a high basketball IQ. He is an excellent shooter of the basketball with unlimited range on his shot. He plays very fast and is quick off the dribble with a very quick release on his shot. A high energy prospect with a good motor. Capable of playing either guard position but is at his best catching and shooting the basketball, since he has such a good shooting stroke. A good ball handler and passer that sees the floor. A good defender that can keep his man in front of him.
Jonah Crumpton-Murray 6-5 SOPH SF Feather River College (CA) - 2024 Class
A 3rd-year college player, Murray is a skilled, left-handed wing shooter that has good versatility as an offensive player. He has good size and a good overall skill level. A good ball handler and passer that sees the floor. A good mid-range shooter that has some range on his shooting stroke, but needs to be more consistent from longer ranges. A good defender that plays passing lanes. Can create off the dribble and make plays for himself and others. Has some upside.
Caleb Whitlock 6-10 FR C Beacon College (FL) - College Transfer
Whitlock is available right now to transfer to another college program, whether a juco or another four-year college program. While Whitlock still needs work to develop as a player, he has the size and agility to develop over time. He also competes and wants to be a player, which is why he played in this event. He has a solid skill level and is able to stretch the floor, although he needs to continue to work to become consistent from mid-range and longer ranges while shooting, and needs to still get physically stronger to finish strong around the rim over defenders. He has serious upside though, and with continued work, will develop nicely over the next few years. Runs the floor. A good prospect for a juco program looking for size for next fall.
Zayn Kimbrough 6-2 FR PG/SG Contra Costa College (CA) - College Transfer
A very skilled combo-guard prospect with a pure shooting stroke and unlimited range on his shot. Can play either guard position on the court with an advanced skillset and feel for the game. Plays with good poise and confidence in himself as a player. Ready to have a breakout season at his next stop after putting up good numbers as a freshman. Fundamentally sound. His best years are well ahead of him, and he is a little older after a post-graduate year and a year of college. Played previously for AZ Compass Prep. A good sleeper guard prospect.
Deen Abdur-Rahmann 6-4 SOPH SG/SF Pasadena City College (CA) - 2024 Class
A strong and physical guard prospect with excellent college experience, after (3) years of college. Can make a nice impact for a good NAIA or D-II program. A strong driver and finisher in the open floor and the half-court set. Goes hard to the basket and competes hard. A strong rebounder and defender. Plays bigger than his size suggests. A solid shooter but his true value exists in the intangibles that he brings to a team. A good looking prospect.
Lachi McKain 6-2 FR PG/SG Chandler-Gilbert CC - 2025 Class
McKain is among the very best shooters in the ACCAC and has very good potential as a player and a college prospect as a result. He shoots the basketball with unlimited range on his shot and a quick release. His shooting stroke is pure and effortless. He can stretch the floor for his team, a nice attribute to have that he possesses. A fundamentally sound guard prospect with an advanced offensive skillset, and an ability to make plays for himself and others. Plays with very good pace. A good ball handler and a very good passer that sees the floor and advances with the pass. Does not waist dribbles, plays within himself. Has upside. Underrated. One prospect on the rise that will help a four-year college program.
