Dream City Christian Prep has become one of the top prep programs in thecountry in the program's first year of operation. The program has quickly attracted some of the top prospects in the country, behind the leadership of Head Coach Kyle Weaver and Director of Operations Dionne Phelps.
One elite prospect brought in by the program this season is 6-foot-11, 200-pound junior forward Alex Tchikou. Tchikou is a big-time talent that has raised the level of recruitment for the Dream City program, and also impacted the recruiting in the state of Arizona, as he has changed the game - quickly becoming one of the most sought after recruiting targets in America's 2021 Class.
A native of Paris, France, Tchikou is a tremendous talent with pro potential for the future, and international playing experience. He has excellent size, length and versatility on the basketball court. He is a unique talent with an ability to make plays with the ball in his hands, or without the basketball, where he is able to create plays as a result of his tremendous length and mobility.
What makes Tchikou unique is that he has a good shooting stroke with range, and can also put the ball on the floor and finish plays in traffic. He runs floor hard in transition and is a high level finisher at the rim. He is a willing passer and also a cutter in the lane. He is an active rebounder and shotblocker, and can guard positions 1-5. At 6-11, he is a serious match-up problem for opposing teams.
When I asked Tchikou about his college recruitment, he advised me in a manner I have seldom heard, "everybody."
And he is correct, as college programs are lining up to recruit him. Tchikou currently has offers from Kansas, Arizona, Baylor, TCU, Arizona State, NC State, Alabama, USC, Maryland, Texas A&M, UCLA, Nebraska, Ole Miss, UNLV, Nevada, Mississippi State, Fresno State and Western Kentucky. Many more schools will look to offer him soon also, as more schools see him perform.
Tchikou is among the elite overall prospects in the state, among the 2021 Class in the state, he rankes among the best prospects in the class with Michael Foster (Hillcrest Prep), DaRon Holmes (Millennium HS), Frankie Collins (AZ Compass), Maxwell Lewis (AZ Compass), Ty Ty Washington (AZ Compass) and Arthur Kaluma (Dream City Christian).
I will continue to follow the recruitment and progress of Tchikou as a player and college prospect, and bring you any updates as they continue to develop.
