Yavapai College is looking to build their program behind the leadership of Head Coach Kevon Davis. After a first season at the helm at Yavapai, Davis has worked hard to raise the overall recruiting exposure for his players. Yavapai 6-foot-3 sophomore guard Ray Glasgow led this year's team in numerous statistical categories, and was the top overall prospect in the program this season. Glasgow had a strong sophomore season for himself, and, as a result, became a nice recruiting target for four-year college programs to pursue. This week Glasgow gave a commitment to a Division-I program, as he has decided to sign a national letter of intent to play next fall for Tennessee Tech University.
Glasgow received serious recruiting interest this junior college season, and became one of the hottest prospects in the ACCAC. Glasgow earned First-Team All-Conference honors this junior college season, and also Second-Team All-Region honors, while leading the Roughriders in scoring with an average of 20 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists per/game. Glasgow ranked 3rd in the ACCAC in scoring this season.
Glasgow scored in double figures in 25 of 28 games for Yavapai this season, and scored 20-or-more points on (16) different occasions, including three games with 30 points or better. He scored a career-high 41 points against ACCAC D-II Champion Pima CC.
A native of the Bronx, New York, where he graduated from Monsignor Scanlan High School in 2021. He averaged 22 points, 5.9 rebounds and five assists per game during his senior year at Monsignor Scanlan. He was also named First-Team All-CHSAA Conference in 2021 and was a McDonald’s All-American Nominee. He previously attended Benedict College and Seward County Community College, before landing at Yavapai with Coach Davis, who brought him with him from Seward after taking the Yavapai job.
"I'm grateful for my time at Yavapai and to Coach Davis for bringing me into the program for his first year as head coach," said Glasgow. "I'm excited for the next chapter in my basketball career and am ready to get to work!"
Congratulations to Glasgow and the Yavapai basketball program on this impressive accomplishment from our staff here at Arizona Preps, and good luck to Glasgow as he looks to continue to collegiate basketball career.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Glasgow is regarded as one of the top scorers in the country in the NJCAA ranks, and is now one of the better prospects in the country for four-year college programs looking for an athletic scorer. He is a nice talent with an excellent ability to handle the ball and create his own shot. He is a Bradley Beal-type (Phoenix Suns) with similar size and skillset. He is a very good shooter with excellent range and has a scorer's mentality. Glasgow also like to pass the ball to the open man on the floor, and so he can create for himself and others - a very nice attribute that he possesses. He is a competitor also that plays to win. Had an excellent sophomore season for himself, and is a very good sleeper guard prospect.
