Westwind Prep Academy is again loaded with some serious basketball talent. One of the top prospects in the program currently plays for the program's post-graduate team, coached by Jai Steadman.
6-foot-7, 230-pound prep forward Terry Winn is among the top 2014 prospects in the state this season. Winn gave a verbal commitment as a senior prospect to Northern Arizona head coach Jack Murphy and his staff, but decided to recently de-commit from the program - opening up his college recruitment once again.
Winn is a tough and aggressive combo-forward prospect with a strong body physically and a nice motor. While still developing his perimeter skills, Winn is at his best in the post.
According to Steadman, Winn is currently hearing from such college programs as the University of Oklahoma, and several other mid-major college programs.
Winn will lead the Westwind Prep post-grads this season against other top prep school programs in the West, and also against local junior colleges - preparing him for college competition in the future.
He recently completed the SAT and looks to have an NCAA qualifying score. He is enrolled in classes at Grand Canyon University, while attending Westwind Prep Academy.
Arizona Preps will continue to follow the recruitment of Winn closely this season, and bring you any updates as they continue to develop.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Winn is a tough and aggressive combo-forward prospect with a strong body physically and a nice motor. Still developing his perimeter skills, Winn is at his best in the post, but is able to step outside and shoot the basketball from 15 to 18 feet - a very good mid-range player. Has good low-post moves and good footwork. Has excellent toughness. He is an active rebounder that gets very good inside position, and is also a strong finisher inside the paint. Good overall defender. Solid passer. Capable ball handler. Good shot-blocker.
