With the basketball world being put on a halt with the global epidemic known as the Corona Virus (COVID-19), us hoop junkies have seem to run out of luck as NBA, Collegiate and AAU/club basketball play have all been cancelled or suspended. Hopefully all of this passes and kids will have the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of college coaches sooner rather than later. In the meantime, here are some of the state's elite small forward prospects to watch for once play resumes - in all classes (In no particular order).
In this Third Edition of "We Miss The Game" we take a look into some of the small forwards that we cant wait to see back in action this summer, or whenever play resumes . . .
Top Small Forward Prospects
Arthur Kaluma 6-7 JR SF Dream City Christian Prep - 2021 Class
Kaluma is a big-time athletic talent with a college-ready body that is making him a serious mismatch problem for opposing teams and players. He can score inside and out effectively, and can create his own shot off the dribble as well, which is almost scary for a prospect his size physically. A good shooter with good range on his shot, and a nice mid-range game as well in his bag. A good post player as well, when he has a smaller defender on him. A strong rebounder and finisher around the basket. Good in the open floor and in transition. Has a good handle of the basketball. A competitor that plays hard and has a very good motor on both ends of the floor. Recently received a Kansas offer, so he is an elite national prospect. Considered a Top-50 national prospect by most national scouting services.
Isaiah Broady 6-7 JR SG/SF Chandler HS - 2021 Class
Isaiah is listed as a small forward but has the ability to play each guard position on the floor as well. He has the handles of a point guard, the jump-shot of a shooting guard and the athleticism and length of a small forward. I enjoy Isaiah's game best when he has the ball in his hands. He is a difficult guard for anyone and should put on quite a show when play resumes. Really needs to focus on the defensive end of the floor and also on the glass to maximize his potential as a player. A high-major division-I talent that already has numerous offers under his belt, but should receive many more offers for himself over the next (6) months, if he doesn't commit before then.
Maxwell Lewis 6-8 JR SF/PF AZ Compass Prep - 2021 Class
Maxwell is a smooth wing prospect with terrific length of body, and can handle and shoot the basketball with range on his shot. He thrives in attacking the basket, where he uses his excellent athletic ability to finish over defenders in traffic or in transition. Maxwell loves to run the floor, and he does so with a passion and fluidity. He has tremendous upside for himself and has pro potential over time, as a result of his superb length and prowess. He already has a large number of division-I offers piling up for his services, so it will be interesting to see where his recruitment eventually lands him. A serious high-major division-I talent.
Sadraque Nganga 6-9 SOPH SF AZ Compass Prep - 2022 Class
Sadraque (pictured) is a one-of-a-kind prospect. He has extreme length and extreme potential - two words that describe him best. With his size, he is best at snatching rebounds and pushing the pace to score or assist in transition. He really enjoys playing the point position on the floor, and is more than capable of playing the position full-time, although he will see the majority of his time as a small forward over time. Sadraque's length is irreplaceable on the defensive end, as he uses his length to alter shots and live in the passing lanes. Already a top-rated, Top-20 national talent among most national scouting services, Nganga is a future pro prospect. While he is starting to build some offers for himself, he should receive loads more once college coaches understand just how good he is and can be.
Devontes Cobbs 6-3 SOPH SG/SF Hillcrest Prep - 2022 Class
Devontes is a player that plays with high intensity and high energy. He thrives on the defensive end, where his quickness and toughness allow him to guard multiple positions. Offensively, he thrives in transition and finishes with the best of them - dunking the basketball around and over defenders as often as he can in transition. A human highlight reel. Plays fast and enjoys the open floor. Has transferred schools numerous times already early in his career, so we would like to see him build a career somewhere for the next two seasons. A big-time athletic talent that still needs to add consistency and range to his jump-shot to reach his full potential.
Keon Edwards 6-6 JR SG/SF Hillcrest Prep - 2021 Class (DePaul commit)
Keon is a long, lengthy wing prospect that excels at creating his own shot, and making shots from the perimeter or in traffic over bigger defenders. He thrives when scoring from the triple-threat position, where he has great footwork and jump-shooting ability. A very unselfish player that does whatever it takes to help his team win, but needs to become much more selfish on the offensive end, because he can be so effective. Having already committed to DePaul University early in the process, he is sure to show Blue Demon fans why he is so highly touted over the next year. A Top-50 national prospect in America's 2021 Class by most national scouting services.
Arman Madi 6-5 FR SF Brophy Prep HS - 2023 Class
Madi is a superb frosh talent with good size already at a young age, and an avanced offensive skillset that allowed him to post serious numbers in his freshman season at Brophy Prep. A long, skilled wing prospect with good overall athleticism and bounce off the floor. A very good shooter with range on his shot, that should only continue to develop for him as he gets physically stronger and matures. An active rebounder. A solid defender that uses his length to play passing lanes. Has a bright future ahead of him and is also an excellent student.
