One of the elite overall prospects in the state ended her college recruitment early, but she is still working hard to be the best basketball player she can be and has been very successful in doing so. PHH Prep's strong and gifted 5-foot-7 senior guard Tryanna Crisp (Arizona State commit) gave an early commitment to the Sun Devils, where she will look to make an immediate impact and have a great college career. The commitment has not slowed Crisp down one bit, as she continues to torch her competition.
Crisp is our #3 ranked prospect in Arizona's 2022 senior class of prospects, behind two elite national prospects - PHH Prep's 6-foot-7 senior Kennedy Basham and Valley Vista's 5-foot-11 senior guard Jennah Isai (University of Oregon commit). In any other normal year, Crisp would be our top overall prospect, but seldom seen in Arizona, do you see two other top-rated prospects that are among the nation's Top 30 overall prospects. Crisp completely holds here own with these two young ladies consistently, and does not take a backseat to any girls prospect in the state - regardless of class.
Recently, Crisp received her just due when she received a Top 100 ranking by ESPN among the nation's top prospects in America's 2022 Class, checking in at #73 overall. This ranking is very well deserved by Crisp, and I believe by season's end next year, she will most likely see an even bigger jump in the national rankings, as she is an elite performer that comes up big underneath the lights, and always seems to dominate her competition. Crisp was most instrumental in leading her PHH Prep program to a National Title in the Grind Session last season (2021), and will again be instrumental, alongside Basham next season, in leading PHH Prep to another national title, although the Grind Session field of top-rated girl's programs will be significantly improved next season.
Crisp is a serious guard prospect that plays both ends of the floor at a high level, and is an elite-level scorer that is able to score off the dribble and create for herself or her teammates, almost at will. She is a strong ball handler and creator off the dribble. She is also a very good shooter with excellent range on her shot, and she makes shots consistently, especially in big game situations. She is a strong driver of the basketball and an excellent finisher in the lane, and does not mind physical contact. Crisp is also able to play either guard position on the floor and make plays at a high level. A fundamentally sound and complete guard prospect that will play immediately in college.
Our staff predicted that Crisp would climb the national rankings among the nation's top overall prospects in the 2022 Class, and she has, as expected. It will be very interesting to see how much higher she climbs in the rankings, after a strong summer and another terrific season in her final year.
