With the majority of college coaches now focusing on the 2019 class of prospects around the country to recruit, Bella Vista Prep's ultra-talented 6-foot-7, 175-pound rising senior wing Terry Armstrong has taken center stage among the top prospects in the West. Armstrong had a terrific junior season for the Bella Vista Prep program, and he continued his terrific play this spring on the Nike EYBL circuit.
Armstrong is now featured as our top overall prospect in Arizona's 2019 class, taking over the spot almost immediately after venturing to the state this high school season. He is a sure-fire high level talent for the future, and was one of the top overall prospects featured this spring on the EYBL circuit while playing for his native club program from Detroit, Michigan - The Family.
Armstrong's play was terrific and as exciting as ever, as he displayed his serious skill level, NBA level athleticism and a true knack for scoring the basketball. As a result of his many exploits this spring, the scholarship offers have poured in for Armstrong - making him a very hot commodity on the AAU/club circuit.
Armstrong now has a long list of offers, and he recently received a large amount of big offers from such schools as Michigan State, Arizona, Georgetown, Oregon, Xavier, Arkansas, TCU and Arizona State. He also has offers from Oklahoma, Creighton, Mississippi State, Southern Mississippi, Virginia Tech, Boston College, UNLV, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Western Kentucky, New Mexico, UC-Santa Barbara and DePaul.
With such a long list of scholarship offers on the table for himself, Armstrong has not indicated any leaders at this point in his recruitment, so his college recruitment could take some time. Don't expect an early commitment from Armstrong.
Armstrong emerged at Bella Vista Prep this season, after relocating to the state from Flint, Michigan. A four-star college prospect by ESPN and numerous other scouting services nationally, Armstrong was a major piece for the success of this year's Bella Vista program.
Armstrong is a big-time prospect for the 2019 class. He is a long, ultra-athletic and bouncy wing prospect that plays well above the rim and has good overall versatility. He likes to handle the basketball in the open floor and make plays for himself and others off the dribble. He is especially gifted in the open floor where he is a threat to make plays above the rim - over and around defenders. He has a very good handle of the basketball and is a solid passer, and is capable of putting up baskets in a hurry - one of the best scorers of the basketball in the country.
I will continue to follow the recruitment of Armstrong closely this summer, and bring you any updates as they continue to develop.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Armstrong is a big-time wing prospect that once was rated among the Top 25 prospects nationally in Arizona's 2019 class. He is a long, ultra-athletic and bouncy wing prospect that plays well above the rim and has good overall versatility. He likes to handle the basketball in the open floor and make plays for himself and others off the dribble. He is especially gifted in the open floor where he is a threat to make plays above the rim, and over and around defenders. His superior length allows him to catch alley-oops passes and finish from almost anywhere on the floor. He has a very good handle of the basketball and is a solid passer, and is able to put of points in a hurry and is almost unguardable with the basketball in his hands. He has excellent range on his shot and is difficult to defend off the dribble as a result. An active rebounder, but he needs to focus more in this area. A solid defender. Plays passing lanes very well though. Has excellent potential for the future.
