It has taken some time for some of Arizona's top-rated prospects to reach their respective destinations among the Division-I ranks, but numerous Arizona prospects continue to make moves. Add former Bella Vista Prep and Desert Vista High School basketball product Terrance Dixon now to the list of Division-I signees from the state for the 2024 Class. Dixon, a 6-foot-8, 235-pound sophomore forward for the University of North Texas, recently decided to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, and now has signed with Lamar University in Texas.
Dixon played sparingly this season for North Texas, but will look to make an impact now for Lamar University. Dixon previously played for Kilgore College (TX), where he averaged 8.9 points and 4.0 rebounds per game and shot 60 percent from the floor.
Dixon moved to the state of Arizona from Georgia when he was 16 years old. He attended Desert Vista HS, where he spent a junior season, before transferring to Bella Vista Prep as a senior, where he was a standout performer. Dixon also played for The Factory club program coached by Kenny Mullins.
One of the top sleeper prospects in Arizona's 2022 Class, Dixon is still developing and has his best years well ahead of him. I have been following Dixon as a player since his move to Arizona as a sophomore. Dixon first emerged @ the Pangos Premier 80 Showcase event held at AZ Compass Prep. At a very lengthy 6-foot-8 in height, Dixon is a very rangy post talent that rebounds high above the rim and blocks and changes shots regularly.
Dixon is an excellent signing by the Lamar University program, which continues to do an excellent job at landing top-rated and under recruited Arizona prospects, led by the efforts of assistant coach Charles Harrell, a former longtime successful Head Coach for Arizona Western Junior College.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Upside is the key word for Dixon, who has loads of it. He is one prospect that has his best years well ahead of him. He runs the floor very well and does intangibles that most players his height cannot, as a result of his extreme length and ability to finish around the rim. He has improved his footwork and low-post moves, and has shown an improved jump shot that will benefit him over time, as he continues to mature physically. He rebounds outside of his area and is active in the open floor and around the paint in the half-court set. He is still a little raw offensively, but, over time, this young man has serious potential and will play for money. One of the top sleeper prospects in the West from the 2022 Class.
