One prospect that took full advantage of the summer NCAA evaluation period was Scottsdale Christian Academy 6-foot-7, 215-pound senior post Ethan Spry. Spry is a talented post prospect with excellent versatility and a nice overall skill level. As a result of his play this spring and summer, Spry has generated numerous suitors for himself.
Spry's development as a player and as a college prospect is a testament to his consistency and hard work as a player. While playing for the Alvin Gentry Elite club program throughout his entire high school career, and staying with one program through his club career, Spry has seen his college recruitment begin to soar with numerous college programs.
Recently, as a result of his steady and consistent performance throughout the spring and summer, as well as his strong play throughout the high school season, Spry recently received offers from Colorado Christian, Fresno Pacific, Dallas Baptist and Army West Point. It is still unclear as to which school is currently a leader in Spry's recruitment, but he will have some very good options for himself.
Spry is a skilled post prospect with excellent footwork around the basket, and an ability to score the basketball from inside and out. He is at his best around the basket and from 15 feet and in, where he is able to make plays at the rim, while getting defenders off balance and scoring around and through his defenders. He is very crafty inside the paint, and is able to score with either hand effectively around the basket. As a result, Spry is also able to get to the free-throw line quite often, where he is also a good free-throw shooter. Spry is also a very good shooter of the basketball also out to three-point distance, and he shoot the ball extremely well, even when defended.
Spry's high skill level and ability to play the game make him a very attractive recruiting target, since he should be able to help the college program of his choice immediately.
Spry is an excellent student as well, and carries better than a 4.0 CUM GPA, so he is ready to go academically, which is a very nice factor in his college recruitment. He is already a full NCAA academic qualifier.
I will continue to follow the recruitment of Spry closely this fall, and bring you any recruiting updates as they develop for Spry.
