The top remainning recruiting target in Arizona's 2017 senior class is Tri-City Christian's 6-foot-8 senior post Nigel Shadd. Shadd has been among the top prospects in the class for some time, but now he is coming into his own as a college prospect. With several official recruiting visits already lined up for himself, Shadd has a couple new high major division-I suitors for himself.
Already this fall, Shadd has scheduled three different official recruiting visits for himself to Pacific, Nevada and Virigina Commonwealth (VCU). Shadd has not indicated whether or not he has a leader at this point in the recruiting process, but he is still leaning towards making a college decision this fall.
Recently, Shadd has received strong interest from Kansas State University, and it looks as though Shadd will soon receive an offer from the Big-12 program. This week, Shadd received a visit to his school from Washington State University, as assistant coach Silvey Dominguez left his workout very impressed with his development as a player. Washington State could also offer soon.
While Shadd is coming off a subpar spring and summer performanfor himself while traveling with his club program, the Arizona Power-Factory, Shadd has blossomed this fall since the end to the club circuit.
Shadd is also coming off a strong junior season where he put up very good numbers - averaging 18.5 points, 14 rebounds and 3.9 blocks per/game on the season. As a sophomore, Shadd was also impressive - averaging 15.1 points, 11.6 rebounds and 4.2 blocks per/game.
Shadd is among the top overall performers in the state, but as the top remainning recruiting target in the 2017 class, Shadd is benefiting nicely from college coaches still looking to land top-rated talent. While Shadd still doesn't look as though he has a clear leader at this point in his college recruitment, it should be a very interesting fall signing period for Nigel Shadd.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Shadd is a long and lengthy power forward prospect with loads of potential for the future. A very athletic four-man with good lift off the floor, Shadd is an aggressive finisher aroudn the basket. An excellent finisher at the rim. Still very young for his grade, this young man has a chance to become a nice post talent with serious hard work. He is an effective fnisher around the basket and plays well above the rim already. He is able to finish strong over defenders as a result. He has a nice jump hook with either hand and has solid footwork. He still needs work on his low post moves to be more effective against top-notch post players. He also can develop his footwork. A solid shooter from mid-range, Shadd will need to develop in his ability to shoot from longer ranges, but he is at his best around the paint. A very good and active rebounder. A very good shotblocker with good timing. An intriguing prospect for the future.
